It may not be quite that simple Perry. I have a similar issue with exported Collada files that I am trying to figure out. Collada just assigns what seems to be a random number to each material in the file. Even if there was some logic to the sequence it would be helpful. I have asked tech support and they have no idea. So it is interesting that someone moved the posting and did not bother to try to address the issue as I am pretty sure there is someone at Chief Architect that knows about this, or at least there should be.
-
OK I got it. It is quite reproducible in a Schedule with City Blueprint, Calibri, Times New Roman. Although it seems to not be an issue with Arial, or Chief Blueprint and is not directly related to the Baseline issue with Chief Blueprint but may be indirectly related to the situation I posted above with Standard Text Grid Line Charts. I will send it in and see what they have to say.
-
Cheryl, I could not reproduce your exact situation but suspect it may be somehow related to what I was experiencing. What font size are you using ?
-
You can also turn off the "Layout Box Labels" layer if you never wan to see that on your layout. Rescale using the Rescale Layout View tool
-
Cheryl, Have you submitted this to tech support ? I am getting a similar situation depending on the character height used in a standard text grid line chart. I thought it was just a result of the bug with Chief's Chief Blueprint font but experimenting with other fonts it seems to be a more general problem effecting even standard fonts like Arial. Here is a screen shot of a 18" character height when 6" or 72" are fine in the same setup.
-
Amazing how screen shots work. Nice idea Mick. A lot less work than rotating the drawing sheet unless you need it to be live as there does not seem to be an update cad detail button. All depends on what you need and how you work I suppose.
-
Humm... No option for a section view. Have you done that in previous versions ? Workaround would be to rotate your drawing sheet, and yes that is a pain.

The little triangle should show up centered out beyond the edge of the box you select, maybe convenient sometimes but a little random if you don't understand what is going on and where to look.
-
They are sometimes hard to find if there is something already on the page but it should be there. Transform and replicate as a backup if there is an issue it can be sent in to tech support.
-
Ok that should not be an issue. Likely tech support just did not quite understand the situation but I think I do. Select the "Layout Box" in Layout and there should be a small triangle outside the perimeter that you can grab and rotate the whole box ( view ). When selected they can also be rotated with the transform and replicate tool.
-
You can rotate the entire view in layout if there is a justifiable reason for it but if you need to rotate a wall it should be done in plan view.

A paper one ? :http://www.rev-a-shelf.com/t-catalog.flipbook.aspx Or a 3D one : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/1065

Yes just make a copy of the material and change the Scale for the Height of the Pattern and also the Y Scale for the Texture.
-
What version are you running ? You may need to use your old laptop until tech support reopens.

The walkthrough recording will use the Camera View Set layer. Open a 3D view and adjust those layers to what you need to be visible.

I see now why walls would not be appropriate. Very nicely drawn, but very obviously tricky to do with chiefs existing tool set. Reminds me a bit of trying to do a detailed plumbing schematic with some degree of accuracy. Your posted example would make a great feature request.
-
Yes, my idea was that it could be used for portions of text or a few key words here and there which may not have been obvious from my posted example as you could have done that with the text fill style feature. A simple polyline could also be use but I thought that a wall might be easier to control and give a consistent height right out of the box or library in this case. It could also be put onto an editing tool bar as a Library Object or multiple Library object toolbars for each text scale you use.

You can assign transparent fills for your wall layers or use a No Room Definition Room Divider wall as a Text Highlighter. Text Highlighter Wall.calibz

Yes, create a section view and make a cad detail from view and trace your treads and stringers and make them with psolids. Chief stairs will just serve as your template.
-
Go to your plot plan layerset and turn off or lock anything that needs to stay in position and then use CTRL A and transform replicate to rotate everything at once including the north arrow.
-
No I don't believe so. However if you unlock the Framing, Roof Trusses layer for the truss detail you can edit your individual framing members of the truss to do what you need. There are a few things to watch out for when editing trusses as you need to be careful to only use the existing framing of the individual details and edit or copy it. If you need to use the trim or extend tools to create or fix an angle, draw a temporary general framing member and then turn off the layer or delete it. I did have a go at adjusting all of my framing defaults to make the truss from a framed wall, it did make the window cutout, but that seems to have issues as well and would require just as much editing. Also would not be technically correct. If someone has a way to make this work I would also love to know.

That is getting pretty specific. You may want to start a new thread that is appropriately titled for that topic. Also if you want high or low resolution 2D or 3D and for use in Chief I am assuming.
-
You might take a look here for some basic stuff : https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=trees Did you have anything specific in mind ?
-
Lots of options are possible like maybe the layer is not on in the view you are looking at or the material definition is messed up and not specified as framing. If you don't get an answer within a reasonable time you might want to post the plan file.

Mine seems to be working fine. It could be an issue with the material file if it is .png. Microsoft seems to be having .png issues recently but not really sure how that is all controlled as it could be a video card situation or something. Might be helpful if you were to add some of those critical system information items to your signature when asking questions it helps others know your situation and they may recognize a hardware issue from their own experience.
