  1. @Renerabbitt I had a feeling it was of this nature. Why do you think it wouldn't pull the room type into the schedule being in X17 even though with the old pull down option showed it? Just curious obviously... since I figured it out and assumed it was what you mentioned above. east coast here, heading to bed. Thanks!!
  2. I don't have a question on this, but more of a result of trying to figure out why my Master Bedroom and Master Bathroom would not show up on the room schedule, even though they were checked to do so (this is a FYI in a way). The plan I am working was started in 2023 but I have continued it in X17. The client sat on this for a bit after I submitted approval plans (floor plans and a few camera views). He has since gave the thumbs up to move ahead.. all about the money I guess. It appears back in 2023 we had a option to pick Master Bedroom or Master Bathroom in our Room Types. But since, and I don't know what version changed this, those two rooms do not exist any longer to pick from the X17 OOB version. But since this was a carry on from another version, those rooms still were available, yet would not show up on the schedule. That had me scratching my head. The fix was simple picking bedroom and bath as the room type and manually give the master in the room name. I hope this makes sense. I tried to search on here if anyone had this issue before I figured it out, didn't see anything so here I am to inform the masses.
  3. Had the same issue... looked at all my settings, couldn't figure this out.. scratched a bald spot thinking.. A quick search... wala.. thanks! Using Chief for a decade plus, and still learning something everyday. I never knew that the patterns were on their own layer till now.
  4. @JKEdmo Nice job Jim.... that's thinking outside the box for a solution. @cjanderson66 Nice deck Chris.. I forget how the hand drawn lines make a picture look crisp. Bringing in the Simpson components and bolting, gives it a nice touch for sure.
  5. @AbeLopez Looks like a good spot for a 3d solid. End of walls like you have here, with I am assuming a wall that is invisible perpendicular, does sometimes cause these caps to not come in.
  6. I def charged for this fiasco.. even though the extra $$ was nice, the time could have been used more productively (I think I had 6 hours into this). I understand clients might change their minds, but this still should have been caught during approval. Its a done deal now, but I will keep what you fella's mentioned if it ever happens again, hopefully not.
  7. So besides mirroring the plan, you then mirror the sections, elevations on their own. Using the common mirror line? Do you use the Edit Area Visible tool or just a mirror? With the EAV tool, most dims mirror ok, I still have cleanup. But it also did not pick up the sections. I will keep this mind for sure, if another comes up. I manually redid every section again. Believe it or not, I'm on my second mirrored plan this week (I prob won't have another for a few years now), this one didn't get past the approval stages before they wanted it flipped. That was easy. I like this too...
  8. Yeah I figured... thanks! The only good thing, is this a change order... time equals $$. I was just hoping to be done sooner than later.
  9. The 7/8" is the total of your floor thickness material (you can see this in the room dbx). for example carpet and padding. The 4" is your slab. Just how Charles described.
  10. Ooh, right on Lake Erie, sounds cold. So your looking for someone to be local I assume.
  11. I don't get these too often, and if I do, its usually at the concept stage. How do you manage this if needed AFTER the con docs are done? I mean the house mirrors beautifully, with a few clean up items. The section arrows callouts mirror pretty good also HOWEVER the actual sections do not, at least they didn't in this case. Do they normally mirror? If this is part of the cleanup, is there a way to "flip" the section cameras so I don't have to redo ~25 section views??
  12. Looks like his is going to be quite the challenge, no matter the software. I can see why its taken 30 plus years to start. Def. keep us updated on progress and how you do/figure out things. It would a lesson learned for the multitude. Like Rich stated... just start, one step at a time. Trace over a plan if you have it to get jest.
  13. @DBCooper @ComputerMaster86 Thanks gentlemen. The tool found one instance for "batt" that I missed. Much appreciated
  14. I was wondering if we have a "Find and Replace" text option...like another well named brand of design software has? I have the word "Batt" mentioned many times on this doc, builder wants me to take all references to BATT off the drawing so he's not held to using it. I am wondering around to all details and plans and notes to catch what I can.. I know I am going to miss at least one.
  15. @John_B Are all your roof layers on? You shouldn't be seeing OSB. How far out is your over hangs, this render looks almost flush.?
  16. I am not a fan of these... no matter the version. I just grab the grip on each one and pull it tight so its not as noticable.
  17. @jacpdx I think DBC should get the "solution" nod....
  18. Oops.. I see DBCooper already called this link out. Great minds I guess.
  19. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00344/modeling-a-subdivision-or-lot-with-multiple-structures.html This is what I used to make this subdivision...
  20. If all else fails, try building it manually.
  21. Are each one of these houses symbols? This is how I would have done this from the start, model the houses, have one of each style, turn them into blocks, then then bring them into your contoured lot plan. Adjust each one accordingly in their x, y, z. Obviously, you'll still need to learn the terrain tools to level areas out. Seems like a huge project that your learning on....
  22. Ah man... wished this wasn't in the middle of the week. Orlando is 4 hours away, and too many things going on this week up here in Tally. Enjoy Florida.. maybe you'll be the next famous Californian to move here. Millionaire Row in Miami would suite you well.
  23. Nvr mind... got it. and WOW. See you went with creating the second floor. Just calc'd, a full circle walk on the main floor is about 110'... 48 laps is a mile.
  24. Which Chief version is this?
  25. Yeah that's good. You can try sending via a zip file too, that's what most peeps do. More secure that way too, I believe, but I could be wrong. Be sure to be out of the file before you do either. I won't be on here much longer tonight, but others will.. and they all like challenges. I get that!
