  1. Yes. You'll need to remove any ceiling finish layer(s), build framing for the floor or ceiling above, and you'll need to learn how to model the ducts and pipes as well.
  2. ...or if there is a reason you had to place those manually, I usually just turn the layer off. Its pretty unusual to show cabinet hardware in a plan view anyway. Also, under the countertops Line Style tab you should have the option to Move To Front Group which should do the trick as well.
  3. I think the reason they did that is because there's really no good way to do it otherwise. You can't make the main layer a layer of its own because the next wall layer over shares a line with it. Seems silly but I'm not sure what the better solution would be.
  4. That particular layer is I believe the only layer that works that way. I agree though...it's an odd way to do it.
  5. If you didn't mess with it, it should be a folder titled Chief Architect Premier X8 Data>Archives>plan name_xxxxxxx Look inside that folder for any available backups to the plan.
  6. Check your X8 data folder>Archives and find the folder for the file you were working on. You might have an auto saved backup in there (depending on your backup settings).
  7. It sounds like what you're looking for would best be accomplished by turning on the Walls, Main Layer Only layer like Joey suggested and applying your desired fill or hatch to the main layer through the wall definition.
  8. Yes. Post the plan. And I would recommend almost never using the material painter in Blend mode. I turn that off and leave it off except in very special situations. That particular toggle may be responsible for more problems in Chief than any other. I have long believed that it should have always been toggled off by default.
  9. I think Glenn might be right. That's probably the better idea. Maybe that coupled with a wall hatch will get you what you want. Hard to say without actually seeing how you want your walls to display.
  10. I won't claim to understand this issue all that well as I haven't studied it much so I could be wrong, but I believe that happens in any situation where the new room definition requires any kind of structural change. I believe the only place a zero width room divider really works is where all you want to change is the finish flooring.
  11. Curious...did you try to search sectional SOFA instead?
  12. Yes. Try that, or maybe try the wall hatching tool. I would discourage you from changing the wall definition later though. Too many potential problems.
  13. Finally got back to the office and checked this out. Definitely just looks like a modelling issue. I think Chief just needs to have someone clean up those extra lines and update the library.
  14. Gotcha. It just looks like the door is trying to repeat itself. It looks like the pattern only works up to 12' (guessing) and then adds another 4' section and they appear to be overlapping by 5"ish.
  15. Not at my computer to check. What does the sizing dbx look like for that symbol? Looks like faulty stretch settings to me.
  16. You are probably using a FLOOR camera went what you need to be using is a FULL camera
  17. Joe is correct. Increase thickness of one or more of the layers to bring flush or uncheck Cuts Finish Layer of Parent Object.
  18. To modify what Dennis said a little, you can still use the newest version of Sletchup. You just need to save the model as as an older version. When the Save As dialog pops up, choose an older version from the drop down list at the bottom.
  19. Here's a quick video showing how to use those place holder rooms. Again, this is just one of a number of solutions that allow for multiple custom schedules.
  20. Putting those walls on their own layer is probably your best bet then in my opinion.
  21. By the way, you shouldn't lose your room definition simply by turning off those invisible walls. I think you might be mistaken. It works for me. You could also just do that and draw a polyline around that room if you wanted.
  22. I think the closest you can get in an instance like that would be to open those invisible walls and change the thickness to 1/16".
  23. I ran tests and it's definitely not fixed yet. Update notes actually only listed a fix for an issue with PERSPECTIVE views too. This particular issue seems to be limited to ORTHOGRAPHIC views.
