I have one project "Davenport" and another "Reynolds." I'd like to bring over existing CAD Details (sheet notes) from first project to the next. Does the Project Browser allow direct copy and paste (project to project / folder to folder)? I believe the answer is no, but wanted to confirm. Thank you, Jim

Thanks Joey. I checked that and it does not seem to be the case. I uploaded the plan. I did notice I can drag the walls tops to infill and produce the frieze. I guess that's a good workaround, but maybe not best practice. TEST.plan Jim

Good morning, I'm working on an as-built of an older house with masonry exterior walls. My gable end walls currently stop at the underside of the roof rafters, which I think is normal. Good morning, What's the quickest way to query a room's area? Wanted to get my crawl space area shown below. I figured I'd open the Room Specification box and presto, all the data will be there under the "General" tab just like a Polyline, but no such luck. Any tips? Thanks once again, Jim

Are Chief wall plan hatch directions always based on the direction of the wall? See masonry wall snapshot below. Is there an option to set the hatch direction so it is fixed "globally" in one direction like hand-drafting? P.S. I first thought that Chief hatch directions might be always object based, but I did a little test with a hatched polyline box. The hatch patterns there seem to behave "globally". Thank you, Jim

Rich, I think that's what I already do. But, I found I needed to manually input some of the new materials from my wall in order to exactly match same materials in existing walls. Jim

I too didn't know they were called "floating" until earlier today! Seems very "ethereal." Jim

Quick question - I wanted to know if there is a way to bring over a whole layer definition from an existing wall when I am building a new wall type? For example, if I want my "lap siding" from another wall -- complete with pattern, texture, fill and thickness -- can I say copy/paste it into the new wall type? The reason I ask is Autocad Architecture (my basis of reference) allows this and I was hoping Chief does too. It is a bit of a time saver. Thanks again, Jim

Good afternoon, I created some floating roof dormers. However, I would like these to be faux "dummy" dormers with no roof openings, i.e. overframed on top of the roof. I cannot figure out how to delete the roof openings below. A tip would be appreciated. Thanks again, Jim

Good morning, I often draw cad lines at door openings to show a finish flooring change. Is there a way to snap to the midpoint of the door jamb casing to accurately place the line? I'm finding no, but maybe I'm overlooking something. Thanks, Jim

Hmmm, I'll rephrase. I guess my question is about how Chief resolves these tee intersections. When my walls are set up with main layers defined like this: Why does Chief resolve the intersection like this, with an offset intersection. The 3 main layer planes do not intersect. Is this a quirk or maybe I'm missing something? If quirk, maybe the question is more for Chief as you said. Thanks, Jim

Eric, I suppose curious if this is "normal" behavior or if I'm doing something wrong. I know about the manual edit layer tool. So, I know about that fix. I guess I would have expected automatic cleanup to happen at the intersection of main wall layers... Thanks, Jim
