Thanks Brett. I tried that, but it unfortunately did not work. What's weird is I opened up 3-4 other older projects where the electrical schedule was "correct." My plan was to copy and paste the Cad Detail schedule over. Strangely, they all now show the compressed keynote size. But, all the other schedules like "construction notes" look fine. I closed and reopened Chief thinking it is a glitch, but that did not help. Or, maybe I changed some sort of global preference? I'm at a loss. I've attached the plan file. The "problem child " is "electrical notes" under cad details if anyone is willing to take a look. Thanks again for the help, Jim PROPOSED.zip

I had my keynotes in my electrical notes schedule looking just fine. Then in my haste I did something that screwed it up and I can't figure out what. The keynotes now look tiny. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again, Jim Used to / should look like this:

Thanks Tea Time! Say "hi" to Kermit for me. Jim

Hello, Does Chief have an option to graphically display active / passive leaves for a double door? Here's what I'm after below. (Note I cobbled together 2 single leaf doors to illustrate) Edit: I guess I should clarify that I'm looking for active leaf at 90 degrees and passive at 45 degrees -- ignore the "A" and "P" Thanks again, Jim

Thanks Chopsaw. I think it is a little confusing, but still learning all the menus... Jim

Thanks Joe for the input. I did not have drop down toolbars turned on in my preferences, but rather "child tool palette." What I described seems only to appear in this mode. In any case, not end of world. If it is indeed a minor glitch, I can pass along to Chief to look at. Jim

Little thing I noticed just now -- "Terrain Tools" and "Terrain Modifier Tools" have the exact same icon in X15 and was wondering if this is intentional or an oversight. Jim

Something very satisfying about that video. Like cleanly peeling a sticker off of a glass jar!

Thanks DB. I'll give that a whirl tomorrow. Jim

Thanks Chopsaw. I tested your method and it worked! Very interesting technique. I don't think I would have ever thought of this in a million years. I wonder why Chief does not have a "split" along line tool or similar. Jim

That's what I wound up doing. Thanks. Jim

I tried trim, but with no success. Wound up making a duplicate copy.

Is it possible to split a roof plane into two separate planes? Trim command? Thanks, Jim

What if you are on the equator? Thanks to all. Jim

Thank Scott. I was not aware walls will "flip" to outside when forming a room. Jim

I have a quick question: I've read that drawing walls in a clockwise manner is recommended practice. I was wondering why and if this is still relevant with latest releases such as X15. Thank you, Jim

Jacob - You rock. Thanks! Jim

Good morning, I'm finding the cutouts of the doors in my garage are showing up in my foundation level below. I think there is an "easy" fix to this, but I can't remember(!). Plan attached. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you, Jim LEVEL1: LEVEL 0: PLAN.zip

Kelly, I've come across these wall finish gaps before. But, I never thought to adjust in plan, just in elevation. To clarify, plan is the way to go? Jim

Take a look at the Calculated Fire Resistant method outlined in the CBC, Chapter 7, 722.6 Wood Assemblies. It applies to walls up to 1 hour rating. It essentially allows a way to demonstrate a one-hour wall rating without the need to cite a tested assembly number. I think this method is often overlooked and is easier. Alternately, Section 721 "Prescriptive Fire Resistance" should have a good assembly I believe. Table 721.2(2), Item 15.

Thanks Perry for quick response. I need to explode the bay unit, to get at the Walls / Room, right? Jim
