  1. that would of been good in the 1st post Eric is right......make sure All Floor is set at the top of the Delete Objects DBX and select Auto and manual and they'll all disappear. M.
  2. Glenn has an old Video on Jing about spiral staircases but I am not sure if he is still using the same methods now as the video was posted 4-5 yrs ago it appears........I'll let him repost the link as Flashplayer and Jing have been superseded - I get an error clicking on the old link I have. @glennw
  3. this does work well and there are several old threads on it, but for a quick fix a 4 1/2" thick Polyline Solid, also drawing in Elevation and set to Drywall material works well too, without the associated issues of working with Chief's Walls. M.
  4. Resetting the New Plan Default Template back to Chief's OOB Residental Template.plan file should put the Default back to factory settings (OOB) if you have corrupted it by accidentally saving your Defaults to it , there is a copy in the Chief Program Folder > Templates too. If you are trying to fix one File ? import the Defaults from the OOB Residential Template to "reset" the current Plan You can also reset Preferences Etc if that is the issue ? A reinstall should fix that too .....rename the Chief Data Folder in My Documents 1st though so Chief Creates a new one and refreshes everything. Mick
  5. The Asus Laptop in my sig, is new, and runs chief fine, Bestbuy did have it on sale last time I looked ( similar price ) but check around for pricing. M.
  6. Not with FF 82.0.3 though I mostly use Edge Chromium these days M.
  7. Sorry I did not get back here yesterday after my Meeting to elaborate, but figured some others would chime in as I know @MarkMc was looking to build a new Desktop this year too and had done quite a bit of researching "modern" components eg the AMD Ryzen which I personally have no experience with but I believe most here are using at least the 3900 Series or higher. If I was building now and couldn't wait , I would go with a 2070 Super minimum with 8GB memory for Graphics (unless I could find a "deal on a 2080ti ) to get a bit of further proofing as the Nvidia 3000 Series Video Cards are out, they just aren't readily available to the Public as yet , though if buying from a System Builder ( Dell,HP,MSI,ASUS etc) rather than as "Parts" you maybe able to get a 3000 Series card eg the 3080. CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 Get the best your budget allows - hopefully Mark or others will elaborate more on Ryzen for you........... Motherboard: ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4, Wi-Fi Could possible save here? Wifi is not needed really on a desktop if Router is close? (ethernet cable CAT is still faster and more reliable) Memory: 16GB DDR4, 3000 MHz About the minimum these days , personally I have 32 GB in my Desktop , though this is something that could be upgraded later if MB accepts 4-8 Dimms Graphics: GeForce RTX 2060, 6GB Refer to notes above SSD: 1TB Get quality TLC based NVME eg Samsung Evo Plus ( QLC Drives are slower and have bottlenecks on large data transfers ) HDD: 2TB Could be NVME or SSD (slower but cheaper and okay for a DATA drive) Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit I have Pro but I am not sure these days if it matters all that much like a few years ago especially if you don't like to "tinker" with Windows. But as in all computer upgrades Budget is the deterimining factor especially when it comes to future proofing in the 3-5yr range. Mick.
  8. Some additions, it's mentioned in a post in the Suggestion Forum. M.
  9. Definitely not , it's about the bare minimum, especially with the new specs for X13 , but if that is what your budget allows then it should work. M.
  10. Only way to do that is Change the Wall Definition the Existing Walls are using , so it changes then in Plan. AFAIK you can't group select certain Wall Types just Walls , you can't even pick exterior or interior only it seems by Shift Selecting them. M.
  11. Once this is done you can Make your Own Toolbar(s) by assigning the different Walls to Place Library Icons but there is no way to make a Dropdown as far as I know..... ( I normally Drop a Empty Toolbar 1st then drop the other Place Library Icons onto it, to get one toolbar when finished ) *** No need for them to be "Default" this way
  12. Yes best to start you own thread when needed but using %width% x %height% ( macros) in the Label should get you there.... (put it in the Default window and door label tabs) M.
  13. I believe the Middle Mouse button works for Pan as well ( as the ALT Key ). M.
  14. It's NOT "the" Paint Toolbar you downloaded, it's the 5 Colors (only) that you need to assign to the (5) Place Library Object Icons you placed in step 3, by clicking on each Icon and going out to the downloaded Paint Toolbars Colors, 1 by 1. ( assign Rene's .png icon to each one as well if desired ) Its easiest to place an "empty space" toolbar 1st, make it wider then drop the 5 Place Library Icons onto it to make a 5 icon Paint Toolbar . M.
  15. If you normal build this way when you check the Room to assign it as a garage , make sure CA doesn't also set the Monolithic Slab box automatically too. I didn't do anything special , it's your Plan but it seems you may have toggled of Textures in 3D views as I don't see the Gable Shingles in your Pic.... M.
  16. Public Beta is usually out for the KBIS Show in LV in late Feb each year, and then the Full release is usually a month Later.... ( I have no knowledge if that is next year's plan though) Not a different kind of graphics card just one that will support Real Time Ray Tracing (RTRT) ...current this is Nvidia Cards with RTX technology ie the 2000 or 3000 Series that may change soon as I think AMD new Cards will support it through Direct X12 Ultimate too. The Webinars are all posted here : Recorded Live Stream Webinars (chiefarchitect.com)
  17. It's messed up due to the other problem and should self correct once you sort it out ....it did for me....not sure why you have a Ponywall there though ? You have the Garage Foundation set to provide the Floor for the Garage and some of the settings don't make sense ...... Uncheck Floor Supplied by foundation and reset the Numbers above , then go to the Foundation Room and uncheck has Floor and also remove the Floor Slab and Ceiling materials as well. gets gets
  18. they are actually measured of the Main Layer , which also happens to be the same line the Baseline Uses ... the framing in a lot of cases. When in doubt hit F1 ( Help App ) for more Info too : Are the Gable Walls set to Default too ? and did you change the Gable Default distance to the same as the Eave Default Distance ? M.
  19. Have a look at this thread from yesterday about Creating a Molding you can apply to a Molding Line (or in some DBX's such as Window Sills and Lintels) , it should get you started and isn't that difficult. Custom Window Lintel - General Q & A - ChiefTalk Forum (chiefarchitect.com)
  20. You could also Delete them with Edit>Delete Objects>ALL Floors Button >CAD> Auto/Manual Dims to remove them all at once......and put them back if needed with a single click. In Defaults under Dimensions >Auto Exterior Dims and uncheck Auto Refresh in your Template and they wont appear auto-magically in every Plan if you prefer to use the Temporary Dims instead as I do. M.
  21. I got the same error in x7 but strangely the Fill Window Icon makes it zoom right in on the Plan as Drawn and it is almost sitting on 0,0 too, so that isn't the Issue either. If the Drawing was imported from a DWG/DXF rather than drawn in Chief , that may possibly be the issue as noted in this KB article : Troubleshooting Origin Error Messages (chiefarchitect.com) I also tried it in Home Designer Pro 2021 and it opened just fine , you could download a Trial Version and try it yourself before purchasing, you can't save files with the Trial though. M.
  22. You did download and install the Paint Toolbar.calibz File right? Go out to the library, assign one of the colors from the imported library , then click the lower browse button too, to go back out for the Icon.png for the chosen color from whereever you saved it too ( toolbars Folder maybe a good idea) you'll need the PNG's above too if you want to use Rene's Icons. M.
  23. Try a different PDF Printer , and see if you get a different result ,,,ie try CA's built in PDF printing if using another currently. Another thought would be are you using Saved Plan Views in Layout ? make sure it matches the Plan's SPV ( and layerset) if so. M.
  24. This is an old Issue with the Overview Camera ..... IF .... you don't have a building in the Plan yet ( none in PIC) , the Overview Camera has nothing to Reference for it's Height above etc. and seems to get "lost", I used to add a small Shed 10'x10' for eg. to the Plan 1st to help with this or use the Full Camera not the Overview Camera. However , it has been a long time since 10.04 was in use , so hopefully it isn't something related to that instead. M.
