  1. Nothing like that in Chief but you can create a transparent fill over the image, then layer everything to show your desired details over the top of those 2 underlying layers. Like imported image on bottom; transparent fill on top of that; then desired details on top of transparent fill. Place everything on its own layer, lock your layers and everything will stay in place as you edit.
  2. The first thing you need to do is complete the outside wall in the main room, there currently is no wall connection. That will allow you to keep the room's spec's separate from the other rooms. Then you have to mess with floor heights, ceiling heights, slab construction etc. till it looks the way you want. The attached plan will get you started. ...and the whole plan works better with "Walls With Footings" instead of Grade Beams on Piers for the foundation spec. Brent Summers 3.plan
  3. Thanks for posting that Eric, I found the same thing. Incomplete, certainly - and left for dead? Usually Chief doesn't go back and fix their incomplete features and hoping this will be an exception - otherwise will simply use P-Solids as before..
  4. Darn, there always seems to be a niggle with wall caps and ends. I tried an example with a wider wall cap and it extends over the edge OK but leaves the wall cap short of the end of the wall. So close to being great. Am I missing something with this feature? Thanks Here's the end - just a bit short. Would be nice to have it extend the same (or a custom distance) as the side overhang. Here's the side over hang - looks good.
  5. Turns out it is a lot easier than the help files explain. Hard to give up on this stuff and it's a pretty great feature all in all.
  6. That was amazing. Never did get it to really work as advertised, never got that dbx available - always grayed out. Back to work and best of luck...
  7. From the help file, but don't see the options as defined...? "Wall Cap Panel The settings on the Wall Cap panel allow you to apply a cap to the top of a lower Pony Wall and are only available for Pony Walls. See Lower Pony Wall Caps." "Lower Pony Wall Caps You can specify a cap over the top of a lower pony wall. See Wall Cap Panel. By default, the cap generates on the exterior side of the wall, outward from the surface of the upper wall. This detail is sometimes referred to as a “water table”. You can also specify that the cap span the full width of the wall, which is the default for pony walls with Railings above. See Railings Over Walls." Maybe here? "Railings Over Walls To produce a railing over a solid wall, specify it as both a Railing and a Pony Wall. See Pony Walls. To create a solid glass panel over a partial-height wall: To create a glass panel above a half wall 1. Draw a Half Wall and open its specification dialog. 2. On the Wall Types panel of the Railing Specification dialog, check the box beside Pony Wall. 3. On the Wall Cap panel, confirm that Full Wall Width is checked. 4. On the Rail Style panel, select Panel and uncheck Include Top Rail, Include Bottom Rail, and Raise Bottom. 5. On the Newels/Balusters panel, select “Solid” and adjust the Newels/Posts Width and Spacing values to meet your needs. 6. On the Materials panel, specify a glass material for the Panel component."
  8. Looks like you're using a pony wall and the cap is defaulting to the top of the upper wall. Not sure how to change that setting or how to get that cap down on the lower portion of the pony wall. A simple half wall will put the cap on top of a half wall but nothing I'm trying allows for that cap to be relocated. I get the grayed out box as well.
  9. Try pulling the Porch railing wall in slightly from the outside wall, that should create just the single roof plane you are looking for.
  10. ...and that is my point - just don't delete them - "by user or computer." Just a bit confused how a computer could delete anything without a user's help but perhaps your computers act on their own sometimes? Again, if you can't learn or teach your staff to simply not delete CAD details you could save all your CAD details in a .plan file and use that as an evolving template - unless someone (or your computer) deletes it of course..
  11. Yes I've had some mystery layer behavior as you describe and it can be very frustrating. Cannot remember how it was resolved but took some doing and never understood it.
  12. Seems to me there's only a huge risk "if by some reason one or more of the CAD details are deleted." Isn't there a way to learn, discipline or teach your staff to not delete CAD details? You can also create a .plan file with your Chief CAD details in it if you want, use it as a template, and add to it as your CAD detail collection grows. Just make sure "if by some reason" someone doesn't delete your template files.
  13. Yeah probably what happened - I'm over it - always appreciate your input.
  14. Yeah, seems to have been removed for some reason. Would like to know why...
  15. Same here...did not think there was anything out of line did you Mick?
  16. Still can't find way it does not work - best of luck..
  17. Never use the feature but it seems to work in most every configuration...
  18. Try it after it is drawn - works fine here. Also hold the cntrl key to get an arc that doesn't snap.
