  1. We will look into Adam's bug report to see if there is something in the 23.4 update causing the slow downs. Hopefully, he has sent us all of the needed plan files as well as some information about what he is doing so we can reproduce the problems. For anyone else that is experiencing general slowdowns in camera views, I recommend this tech article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00521/troubleshooting-slowness-in-chief-architect-plans.html
  2. Actually, I prefer to use the "End to End Dimension" tool instead of the "Point to Point Dimension" tool. The "Point to Point" tool will place Markers if you don't pick up the object you are trying to dimension and the "End to End" tool won't do this. If you are using the "End to End" tool you should set the "Locate End to End" settings in your dimension defaults.
  3. This might be a better question to post on the Q&A forum rather than Suggestions. If you have not already done so, you should check out all of the free videos here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/ You might also want to check out all of the other services available through Chief Architect here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/training/ Including the free webinars that are coming up every Thursday. There will be one on wall framing coming up on this Thursday and one on floor and roof framing coming up on 4/7. More info about the webinars can be found here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/events/
  4. Couple of things to add... If your landing is not at the proper height, then it might not be connected to the stairs. Landing are just polyline based objects and if you make the side of the landing along the end of the stair they should connect and be at the right height. You can also override the automatic height for the landing in the landing dialog. Sometimes it is useful to set the landing height where you want it and let the stairs use auto heights to connect from the landing to the floor platforms. As for breaking stairs, if you click on the break tool, you will get a new edit sub-toolbar with the complete break tool as an option. I sometimes find the complete break is slightly easier than adding a normal break and then using the disconnect tool. The disconnect tool is also on the main edit toolbar so it's really more like 6 of one and half dozen of the other. Use which ever tools make the most sense to you. The end result should be the same.
  5. Rene's method works good if you need to display the stairs on both the foundation floor and the main floor. If all you want to do is add a landing to your stairs, just shorten them, manually draw a landing at the end, and then draw another down stair section from the landing. Or you could add a complete break, pull the stairs ends apart by how long you want the landing and then click in between them.
  6. Or, instead of converting it into a symbol, you could create an architectural block. Both have their advantages but an arch block can be exploded later if you want to change out the knobs.
  7. You might also want to check out the X13 migration guide: https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/documentation/chief-architect-x13-migration-guide.pdf
  8. When drawing or rotating objects, the angle is usually displayed in the status bar. If you setup your allowed angles, it will be easier to snap to some angle that is not on 15 degree or 7.5 degree increments. Placing an angular dimension (as shown above) is a good way of specifying an exact angle. You could also use the transform/replicate dialog. The make parallel tool can also be very useful. One thing that some people don't know is that you can click on the tool a second time to open the dialog that allows you to choose whether or not the whole object is rotated or just the current line.
  9. X13 has a brand new rendering engine written from scratch so it has different system requirements. There have been lots of reports of problems with creating camera views but most of them are solved by updating video drivers. You should either read the tech article or contact support.
  10. Your video card looks like it should be supported but your driver is from 2018. You might want to check to see if there is an updated version. If you continue to have problems, you might want to check out this tech article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00106/troubleshooting-3d-camera-view-display-problems-in-chief-architect.html And if all else fails, you should contact technical support for more help: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/
  11. Are you using the latest update (23.4)? The reason that this is important is that there was a bug related to selecting certain wall types that were saved in the library that was originally in 23.0 that should have been fixed in 23.1. If you are still using 23.0, then you should really get the latest update. If you are getting this problem in 23.4, then it is possible that our fix was not complete. You need to report this to our tech support team so that we can look into this more.
  12. Are you using the latest update (23.4)? How did you get the symbol into the program? Did you start having this problem immediately or did it only start happening some time later? You could try temporarily turning off the library browser preview and selection windows to see if you can then delete the library object. Before you do that though, you should also see if you can export the symbol so that you can report this problem to our tech support team. This way we might be able to prevent this kind of problem from affecting others in the future.
  13. Did you click on the "Check Knowledge Base" button? This will often take you to tech support article that will explain things in more detail. Did you get any error messages before you noticed the problems in your plan? Most often when plans start misbehaving the program will display some kind of error message letting you know that there is a problem. Sometimes people ignore these messages and then wonder why the plan is having problems. You should never ignore error messages. Did you save your plan after you saw the problems? This is one way to get corrupted plan files. Whenever you see strange problems in a plan, you should always do a save as so that you won't corrupt what might be a good version of the plan. The bottom line is that this error message means that your plan is corrupt and can't be read. The file header information is the very first thing in the file and when this data is missing or wrong then there is usually no way to read the file. It's basically gibberish to the program. The best thing to do is fine an archive or backup of the plan that is usable. You might also check out this tech article: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00960/message-the-plan-file-you-are-attempting-to-open-appears-to-be-corrupted.html On a side note, you have given me no information that indicates that this is a new problem in 23.4. My guess is that this is the result of a random program or system glitch and has nothing to do with the update. If you experience this problem again, then you should contact our technical support team.
  14. If you only choose to migrate toolbars, then none of your other settings should be affected. You can also do this manually by just copying the data from your X12 toolbars folder into your X13 toolbars folder.
  15. Post your plan (or at least some pictures of what you are seeing) or contact tech support. You may also want to update your signature if you are using X13 instead of X11.
  16. If you find any problems with the new update (23.4) that are new, then please report them directly to our tech support team.
  17. You don't actually need a very good computer to run the desktop viewer. Keep in mind that the viewer doesn't have all of the features that are in Premier (and it can't even do real time raytracing). All you need is one that meets the minimum system requirements. PC Minimum Windows 10 / 11 64-bit 8 GB of RAM Video Card 2 GB of RAM DirectX 12 5 GB of available hard disk space Internet access
  18. You might want to check out using the free desktop viewer instead of the mobile app. If the client has a fairly capable computer (one that can run X13), it will allow them open and view the plan. You will need to send them the plan file and all of the external referenced files. We recommend using the Backup Entire Plan tool to do this. You can request the desktop viewer here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/resources/viewerrequest.php Some other options would be to send them exported images, a 360 Panorama image, a 3D model (they will need something to view it with though), or a recorded walkthrough.
  19. Nothing that odd really. It just took us a while to resolve some of the remaining most important issues. First we were waiting on nvidia to help us with the problems on Windows 11 related to their video cards and then for Intel with some other problems with theirs. Turns out the nividia problems were driver issues that they could fix but the Intel problems were ours so this update should correct them. There are a number of other useful bug fixes though so I would encourage everyone to get and use this latest update.
  20. If you did not try the latest Nvidia drivers (specifically the 511.79 one), then you should do this first. This has solved *most* of the issues we have seen with Windows 11 and the nvidia 3000 series cards. You might also want to get the 23.4 update that we released just today. We fixed a number of important issues and some of them might help with your problems. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/updates.html You might also check this tech article about how to solve camera view problems: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00106/troubleshooting-3d-camera-view-display-problems-in-chief-architect.html And if none of this helps, then I would encourage you to continue to work with our tech support team. We have people who are trained to help you solve these kinds of problems and this is part of what your SSA is paying for. Buying a new computer is almost always the very last resort, unless your computer does not actually meet our min system requirements (https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/sysreq.html) If you are considering buying a new computer, you might also want to review this blog article with some more recommendations: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/blog/computer-for-design-and-gaming/
  21. While in an elevation view, you can use the Edit Active View tool and go to the Selected Defaults panel. This will show you exactly what your defaults are for that view.
  22. What you will see is controlled by where the back clipping plane is relative to the model. If it is behind the walls, then you will see the walls. If it is in front of them, then you won't. Also, it looks like your framing is either not built, not displayed, or possibly your framing is not perpendicular to the camera view.
  23. Is your Color turned off for your view? F8?
