If you remember the Niche started off as a shampoo shelf (shadow box) in a bathroom wall with no shelves but I know that is really not the point here. I tried several different ways including the cabinet idea and I liked it but as you say you have to edit the framing. I went back to my original idea of using a window opening and just filling in the back side with the wall. In this way the framing comes out as you need it. I think it would be a good idea for chief the create "Niche" selection under the window tools that has a back to it and/or the drywall on the other side can somehow remain. I would use this tool a lot. Just about every one of my bathrooms have a shadow box. Having the framing come out right without having to customize it would be very helpful.

I tried messing around with making the Niche (or what I call a shadow box) out of a medicine cabinet but It wasn't that easy. So the one in the attached picture I made from an upper cabinet. Much easier!

You needed to take another step using the poly line tool and convert it to a slab and then you can adjust the location and change the color and/or materials you want it to be. Check out the attached drawings.

I ended up putting in two interior walls perpendicular to the exterior wall spacing them 4' on each side of the window center to give me a base line for the start of the roof and drew in a manual roof and then deleted the interior walls I used after It was complete. Also I used the "Join Roof Planes" even though I had two different pitches. Took me about 20 minutes and worked like a champ. Thanks for the ideas!

The only issue I had was because of my video card was causing a lot of problems!!! Running on my NVIDIA card now and everything it peachy!!! Also on a side note: I changed my ram from 6 to 16 and it did not make my system any better but the hot ticket was to change out my hard drive to a "SOLID STATE" or add a second one just to run your operating system and programs. 10X faster on my computer and solved a lot of problems. I would like to know some other ways of making this gable roof over this kitchen window in the attached drawing. I always have to be creative and looking for an easier way. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm not excited about the loony tunes icons either but its not that bad. I'm getting used to them. X7 is great and giving me no problems so don't let that stop you from enjoying the benefits of X7. Good Job CA!!!

Ok, thank you! Didn't think about it being the beta version. Does that mean its a test run and am I supposed to be giving my thoughts on what I think about it?

I don't like the new animation look in X7. Is there a way to go back the the X6 look for the icons? I also don't like the big over size check marks and x marks in the layer set dialog box. I guess I could get use to it but was just wondering it there is a quick way to revert back to the old x6 look?

That didn't work either. There should be a way though because it worked in X6 I don't think I mention that this is a slab foundation (monolithic pour). It works fine with the raised foundations.

When I cut and paste the blocked cad detail into my plan file in comes out in solid black lines instead of gray dashed lines that I selected. What's up with that?

That worked with X6 but does not work with X7

I don't want there to be a foundation added to my porch when I use the automatic build foundation. I there a way to turn it off so it wont do that or do I just need to delete the foundations after it builds them? Sorry about grammer

I'm sorry I'm not real sure who you are addressing? I fixed my problem by switching my default graphics processor to NVIDIA. Are you speaking of the Intel graphics processor? If so let me know what you are looking for and I will send the information on that hardware to you.

I forgot that when I installed X6 I had to set the default graphics processor to NVIDIA. I just remembered and I changed it and it works fine now. When you mentioned NVIDIA the light bulb came on in my head. Thank You

What is overclock?

After listening to all of you I decided to try to put together a list of parts to build my own system (PDF attached below). This is what I came up with. Any thoughts. opinions and suggestions would be appreciated before I pull the trigger. I was also looking at a Dell system (XPS 8700 http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-8700/pd?oc=fddogs107h&model_id=xps-8700) because I have been happy with my laptop from Dell and their support. Their description is hard to compare with my list though. Computer System.pdf

I'm still looking and deciding on a new PC myself. Is there any benefit to having a touch screen?
