  1. The wall should automatically generate. Did you make some changes try to get rid of the high walls?
  2. Ya I don't see any problems here. Your question needs to be a little more specific.
  3. So basically the answer to my question is no, you can't dimension the framing members in a framing section unless you do something creative. I also understand that you can however dimension a single wall framing section. Thank you very much to everyone. I now at least have a better understanding of sections and can proceed with my drawing.
  4. For some reason when I'm in a framing section the dimension lines wont pick up the framing members. I have to put in cad lines to make it work. Anybody know why this wont work? I know that I can change it to a cad drawing and then dimension it and I know that I can use the point to point tool but is there a way to pick up the framing objects in the section?

  6. If there is a secret I would like to know also. I just delete and/or adjust what need and do not need after the dimensions are generated. I set what I can In the defaults to narrow things down.
  7. I used carbonite also. Saved my tail a few times. Best thing you can do though is get in the habit of hitting the save button every 5 minute or so no matter what program you are using.
  8. Got stuck with a customer thru a lot of these replies. Great info guys!
  9. Thank you, I was checking out the video's. A lot of content to go thru! Here is a video for you Robert if you are interested and picture of a California roof framing tie-in. Also a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CJgjMGmzBQ
  10. Thank you, I understand what you are saying but didn't know if there was something built into chief to do if automatically. Robert, California tie-in is the method of overlaying a new roof over an existing roof for a room addition tie in. I can send a detail if you want to understand it better? Thank You
  11. Can someone explain to me how to insert the thumbnail images into this posting?
  12. Does anyone know how or if a California Tie-in can be created for a room addition on a framing section or in 3D?
  13. Hey Guys, Thank you for your help. Everything is working great now! Can you also tell me how you are inserting the images into this window so I can do the same?
  14. I had it once yesterday where it only showed the subfloor and somehow the finish floor re-appeared at some point. I know how to do a temporary fix but I'm a little anal at times and it drives me nuts. The best and easiest way for me so far it to just draw it in on the section. A couple of quick lines or a rectangular poly line works fines. Ok, so as I'm typing this I stopped and went to the section again and the finish floor was gone but the sub floor sheeting was there. Spooooky!
  15. I would like the sub floor sheeting to show up on the framing section but when I check the layer it also shows the finish floor materials. Can the finish floor somehow be separated from the sub floor sheeting for the view?
  16. Ok, we will just go with this picture then. My best side
  17. Perry, I added my ugly mug so you can see my happy face! I feel a little stupid though. I was changing my foundation, room and framing defaults and did not even think of the floor defaults. I changed the floor defaults and all my troubles went away. I have been using chief for many years and every once an a while I get hung up on the most simplest thing. Thank you for your help!!! Joe
  18. I have different elevation settings for my garage foundation then the house living space. Every time I try to build the framing it changes the foundation elevations of the garage and also messes up my roof. I have been using this program for many years and I don't understand why I am having this problem. Can anyone help me?
