  1. Yes, you are young! "Sanford and Son" was a classic. It was one of my favorites Hope I didn't offend you I was just kidding around
  2. Just coming up with this actor in his day reveals you must not be a young buck
  3. Have to go out for a few hours so I will try symbols when I get back. Haven't worked with symbols in a while so I have to check the help.
  4. I may have to manually put the rafters in and turn off the rafters layer Unless someone else has easier way another way.
  5. I tried to run a roof from the top down and putting a negative pitch but it recognized the lower portion as the eaves
  6. Anyone know how I can get a radius on both ends? Its not recognizing the top as rafter tails.
  7. Thank you very much! This helps me a lot also. I'm getting a better understanding
  8. Thank You! I had it all set up I just wasn't using it properly. You told me exactly what I needed to know.
  9. Steve, I apologies for my lack of being able to explain what I need. I will go back to my seminar videos and see if I can find my answer there. I don't even know how to properly explain what I'm trying to do. Thank You
  10. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the cameras and cross section view, layers and defaults. I make a new layer called "cross sections" because I want to separate it from the elevation camera views and it works real nice. The problem is that I want to be able to save the settings but if I change them for the framing sections at 3/8 or 1/2" scale then It messes up the camera views. Is there a way of saving and/or copying this call out so I don't have to set it up 2 or 3 times on every drawing I do? I'm afraid that if I set it as the default than it will mess up the camera views I use for elevations. Just having a hard time understanding it. Any help would be appreciated. I need to understand sections better because it seems like I spend a lot of time on them and they could be more be more automatic.
  11. Seems like a waste of time and energy to me Larry. Sometimes I get hung up on these little things and it ends up being a monumental waste of time when I could have just built what I needed in a cad detail (for example) for something that I rarely even need or just except it just the way it is.
  12. Yes, section is just for visualization only (doesn't have to be perfect). This note is all the city requires for me to give them along with a section (visualization only). Or at least before you start framing depending on what the city wants. Depends on the job and city
  13. I like to put in a truss when I take my section cut. You just have to adjust your rafters and ceiling joist and take out the birds mouth cut and the truss will lay right over it.
  14. Seems like a pretty unusual request. No idea how you would do that. Curious to see if anyone else replies with an answer.
  15. Can you elaborate on how to do that? An example maybe.
  16. Here is one example of what I was thinking but I don't know how I would make a line style like this to be automatic to where you can just select and drag. The most used by me would be a 2% and 5% Any ideas or thoughts?
  17. Anyone want to share how they show direction of grade on site plan? I always use individual arrows with percentage of grade and just place them around the house as needed. Wondering what other ways I can display grade slope percentage. Most of my projects are 2 to 5 percent and I don't need to set terrain so I leave it flat. So the elevation data wont work. Your thought and suggestions would be appreciated
  18. The reason I was having the problem was because I had one wall placed against the other so I didn't have the options for room definition. So I moved my wall out and made a room so I had the option and then it was fine. Thank you for your response.
  19. Thank you Perry, I figured it out. I just made it a room rather than to have one wall up against the other.
  20. How do I do that because it wont select as a room? I tried to post the plan but forgot the procedure to do that.
  21. Missing Drywall: It seems like I had this problem once before but for the life of me I cant remember how to fix it. I tried to go through all the wall settings. Please help if you can
  22. I always do an As-Built drawing and use it for my demo plan and when I start the revisions I save it as new plan. Then you can send each one to layout.
  23. I know where this dialog box. I will try to ask the question better; If I want a surface mount light to set automatically in a bedroom and a can light to automatically set in a laundry room or hallway, how can I set that? Or is it even possible? I'm talking about automatic placement, not having to go in the library and get it. Chief can change this but can we?
