Well, I'm looking at your profile picture and I'd suggest I am indeed a young buck! But it is a matter of perspective. My life is currently right in the middle of a nice halftime show (I'm 42)!
Yes, you are young! "Sanford and Son" was a classic. It was one of my favorites
Hope I didn't offend you I was just kidding around

You know, I actually find it quite funny when its someone else's problem!
Just coming up with this actor in his day reveals you must not be a young buck

Sorry I think i was thinking of beams, and maybe if did the roof with a 0 pitch even though I wanted some slope.
Symbols may be the way to go.
Have to go out for a few hours so I will try symbols when I get back. Haven't worked with symbols in a while so I have to check the help.

Yep... I tried too. It doesn't seem to want to put rafter ends on the high side no matter what.
I may have to manually put the rafters in and turn off the rafters layer
Unless someone else has easier way another way.

I think you need two roof planes. I have done it for pergolas but you may run into issues on a real roof.
I tried to run a roof from the top down and putting a negative pitch but it recognized the lower portion as the eaves

I've attached a quick layerset at 1/3" scale as an example...(you would switch to this layerset to add text to your section)
Thank you very much!
This helps me a lot also. I'm getting a better understanding

I have Anno Sets for these. For instance, for interior cabinet elevations I take the camera shot, choose my 1/2" scale interior elevation anno set and save the view. For building sections I have another anno set for that, and one for exterior elevations. Two clicks and done.
Thank You!
I had it all set up I just wasn't using it properly. You told me exactly what I needed to know.

Steve, I apologies for my lack of being able to explain what I need. I will go back to my seminar videos and see if I can find my answer there. I don't even know how to properly explain what I'm trying to do.
Thank You

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the cameras and cross section view, layers and defaults.
I make a new layer called "cross sections" because I want to separate it from the elevation camera views and it works real nice. The problem is that I want to be able to save the settings but if I change them for the framing sections at 3/8 or 1/2" scale then It messes up the camera views.
Is there a way of saving and/or copying this call out so I don't have to set it up 2 or 3 times on every drawing I do?
I'm afraid that if I set it as the default than it will mess up the camera views I use for elevations. Just having a hard time understanding it.
Any help would be appreciated. I need to understand sections better because it seems like I spend a lot of time on them and they could be more be more automatic.

Thanks Robert and I understand the technique. Not sure which direction I'm going to go with my Schedules. It happens pretty rarely and it might be smart to change nothing and use the technique you described in those rare instances. Thanks again for all the input and help.
Seems like a waste of time and energy to me Larry.
Sometimes I get hung up on these little things and it ends up being a monumental waste of time when I could have just built what I needed in a cad detail (for example) for something that I rarely even need or just except it just the way it is. -

That's what I do, and simply refer to the truss(es) as 'per plan' or 'per layout and calcs'. It's made sense and hasn't seemed to confuse anyone for the last 20 or so odd years. Just another way to do things.
Yes, section is just for visualization only (doesn't have to be perfect).
This note is all the city requires for me to give them along with a section (visualization only).
Or at least before you start framing depending on what the city wants. Depends on the job and city

Seems like a pretty unusual request. No idea how you would do that. Curious to see if anyone else replies with an answer.

Make a cad block and then use it in a distributed path?
Can you elaborate on how to do that? An example maybe.

Anyone want to share how they show direction of grade on site plan?
I always use individual arrows with percentage of grade and just place them around the house as needed. Wondering what other ways I can display grade slope percentage.
Most of my projects are 2 to 5 percent and I don't need to set terrain so I leave it flat. So the elevation data wont work.
Your thought and suggestions would be appreciated

To prevent a ceiling plane from being cut by walls, you'll need to uncheck "use room ceiling finish"
The reason I was having the problem was because I had one wall placed against the other so I didn't have the options for room definition. So I moved my wall out and made a room so I had the option and then it was fine.
Thank you for your response.

Looks to me like you could use a shelf ceiling there/. if you used walls for that fireplace, it becomes a room
How do I do that because it wont select as a room?
I tried to post the plan but forgot the procedure to do that.

Hi All, New topic! I am trying to create Remodeling drawings for a project to present for permit. I can't seem to do it all in one drawing? e.g. Existing walls, Demo Walls, and Proposed walls on the same plan because even with the layers turned off, they interfere with other layers? The Village wants separate sheets (Layout sheets) to reflect the existing, demo (to be removed) and Proposed. I have created different walls for different layers, but, when I work in other layers, they will interfere with what I am drawing in other layers? The only thing I can think of is, work in different "Plans" and send to one "Layout"? Will that work? (Would rather work in one "Plan")

I always do an As-Built drawing and use it for my demo plan and when I start the revisions I save it as new plan. Then you can send each one to layout.

I know where this dialog box.
I will try to ask the question better;
If I want a surface mount light to set automatically in a bedroom and a can light to automatically set in a laundry room or hallway, how can I set that? Or is it even possible?I'm talking about automatic placement, not having to go in the library and get it. Chief can change this but can we?
I wish you guys had fixed the WALL CAP issue.
