  1. They also talked about my method I showed above about converting the rail to a symbol and putting it on top of a solid railing... Untitled 1.plan
  2. You can convert your railing into a symbol, and adjust it accordingly from there?... The only other issue is that the baluster draws at an angle as well. So if you have the turned balusters, they are stretched weirdly (see attached). Untitled 1.plan
  3. You'll probably have to post the plan. I just tried it, and it seemed to work ok?... Untitled 1.plan
  4. Meaning I couldn't duplicate your problem, but I did open the camera's and change the layers that way.
  5. Couldn't get it to duplicate...saved fine, opened fine.
  6. Another interesting thing is that if I change the R.O. on my plan...it does nothing to the exterior gap, but the gap on the inside is changing. I don't know...whatever...back to work. Untitled 1.plan
  7. Create a window, and dbl click to open it. Under the general setting, change the window type to "Louvered". Change the size to be the size of your vent. Then under the options setting, change the recessed to whatever layer you prefer. You can set other aspects of the vent however you want to make it more closely match what you've attached above.
  8. Sorry, I should have clarified... What's the height of the floor system on the lower part (where the door is)? Can the truss company make a floor truss that short?...I was always under the assumption that 14" is about the minimum. They might recommend that you just handframe that whole section... I understand that Chief might show it, but that doesn't mean it can actually be built.
  9. I've had two people try to print in 3D for me. Both times they basically had to redraw the model in separate software, because the .stl file was poorly exported.
  10. I know this doesn't answer the question, but what is that distance?...can they even make a floor truss that small?
  11. I'm sure you know this, but IF you've already placed the symbol, you can click on the "Open Symbol" tool to edit the 3D symbol.
  12. Weird....try changing the symbol "Y" offset to .5. I did that on this one and it seemed to work. I've never tried this method with windows. I've seen the selection, but I do doors this way quite a bit.
  13. Can't you export the p-line solid to a .3ds file, and then re-import that into Chief as a window?... Or am I missing something?
  14. Here's my go at it... Attached 3D shot and the plan. bell roof 02.plan
  15. Well Richard...I think we should push for it!
  16. Or do you have to have a piece of software that works with Chief?...
  17. Thanks Richard... Do you have any clue on how that thing hooks up?...is it just a USB cord or what?... Basically if it's treated just like a "monitor", why wouldn't Chief be able to run through it?
  18. We didn't get the invite either, and had to also manually download and install (because we're joined to a domain). I've installed Win10 on my PC and another PC just to run tests. So far we haven't had to spend "several hours" installing drivers and software, and it's be very painless. We just did the upgrade option though. I've been tempted to redo mine with a clean install just to see how it all operates. Anyways, I've noticed that overall Chief seems a little snappier (undo's and other aspects). Other programs, and Windows itself is much quicker as well.
  19. Where is the plan in relation to 0,0?? Sometimes that can be a problem...
  20. I did do a little search, but there are only little snippits here and there on this...
  21. I've been tasked with looking into this, and just wondering if anyone has any input on it?... https://www.oculus.com/en-us/rift/ http://smartreality.co/oculus-rift-leap-motion-virtual-reality-in-construction/ We'd really like to go with something like this to stay cutting edge, and also give our customers a better experience. Has anyone tried this?... Can Chief even support this?... I'm hoping to get some insight from you guys, and also Chief Engineers...I will also probably bring it up at the UGM I'm going to be persistent!
  22. Mick, That's a good feature, but what about when you have mixed cased openings and sheetrocked openings?... Isn't EVERYTHING ignored then? There are many times when I slam my cased door or window up against a wall and then move it so there's a 1" space...
