  1. Love me some 3D warehouse... Always been a smooth download and import to CA.
  2. Might as well jump on board- attached fire wall detail commonly used around here. Valid for rental units or individually held properties such as condo plats and townhomes. TYPICAL BUILDING FIRE SEPARATION DETAIL.dwg
  3. Been beat to death on this forum... can't believe CA hasn't revised this tool
  4. To the OP.. try a search next time...might would have saved you some phone time with tech support
  5. Depends on if you are designing structurally independent units or just 1 hour fire separation. As Eric said check with local authority but ultimately up to you and the client to decide what you are really building. Will the units be individually owned- or just rented by landlord. 1 story or 2- fire rated asemblies for walls only or full separations to roofs searching. Lots of good info from the APA and United Gypsum board association.
  6. Thanks for all the efforts in trying to educated me- Can I ask one time - please just try and import the attached DWG into CA and tell me if you get a proper view. When I do it I get absolutely nothing. I sent this file to an AutoCAD user and he open it and shows floor plan. A1.11 SECOND FLOOR PLAN.dwg
  7. Thanks Mick- as you mentioned in #20 can I export the view and it's layers shown from Draftsight? How?
  8. When I open in Draftsight I get the view I want but when I import into CA no walls? All layers selected during CA import. I have attached 2 files that I was sent from the original Architect- 1st one was in the main folder - 2nd was in a sub folder titled views. A1.10 FIRST FLOOR PLAN.DWG FIRST FLOOR PLAN.dwg
  9. MIck- I have downloaded Draftsight and opened the view that I need- how do I go about exporting or saving that particular view so that I can import into CA?
  10. Plan attached- LOT_122_CD_-_03-06-18.plan
  11. You bet- always helpful around here
  12. will do soon as I get back to it- no more work for a Sat
  13. Tried checking and unchecking that dbx but no change- in X8
  14. Probably missing a wall setting somewhere but my floor surface keeps bleeding through my foundation wall. Turn floor surface layer off- no bleed through. ( I realize it's just because it's not displayed.) Much thanks in advance
  15. If Jared has not worked out an agreement with you I can look at it.
  16. Alan- No worries - you have already offered a great deal of help getting me headed in the right direction. One last thing- if I am thinking correctly I should be able to open the layer state that is showing the view I want and use that as te basis for the layerset I want to create in CA- I would have to manual turn on all the required layers but it should give me what I need? Thanks again
  17. OK we're on the right track- I have downloaded the Autodesk viewer and opened one of the files I want and it is displaying as desired. See attached screen shot. Now is it possible to export this view and only these layers so I can import in CA?
  18. So in the files you attached - say the 2nd floor ceiling plan- are all of the layers that are called out displayed in the printed page? And are those the layers that I would need to display in CA? Ideally I would like to be able to open in a viewer- select the proper layer state as you call it and then export that view in DWG and import to CA with only the layers I need displayed
  19. Alan- Do you have a viewer that you recommend- preferably something cheap and easy
  20. You da man Alan- so that " layer state" is what AutoCAD calls a layerset? and not available for me to see in CA? Is it possible for you to export those views in DWG so that can import and see them as there are in the pdf view? or show me the layers that are on the layer state you mentioned so that I can create a layer set that is identical? (Maybe best - then in can duplicate in other plans I receive.) Thank you again for the help ...+1 for you
  21. That is what I am looking for- how much sorting did it take to get there
  22. Thanks Alan- I am trying to get the pdf files of the actual printed pages so I can see what is displayed on each- then I can try and weed out the layers that are not needed. If I can't seem to get it I will follow up with you to see if you can pare them down to what I need.
  23. Have you tried just placing a door in railing wall and editing as a normal door
  24. Might try a search on this forum. Creating symbol from P-line solids is pretty straight forward.
