-
Used Online converter and imported PNG- had to resize the image but appears we are on the right track. will follow up with results thanks as always

Attached- doesn't even appear to be a large file 299kb A203 DIMENSION PLAN.pdf

I dis a search but did not find what I was looking for so here goes- I often have to import a floor plan pdf into CA and then add text or symbols for elec- mech - plumbing - etc... The PDF file slows down the maneuvering significantly. Scrolling in and out becomes very labored. is there a way to manipulate the PDF file to make the process work smoothly? much thanks

I am looking in the materials DBX and don't see an option fro reflectivity- is it a materials setting or a raytrace setting or ????
-
Thanks Joe- you the man as usual!
-
I am working on a raytrace view and while most of the colors and textures stay fairly consistent with the original render view the pool water changes significantly. Any suggestions appreciated.

Just wanted to follow up on my new rig. Arrived last Friday and installed Monday- SO far very happy . Total for unit was just over 1800.00 Thank you all very much for the information - Markus , the guy that ordered and installed found your comments very helpful.

Seems like 2 layout files in the plan folder. Send to each separately?
-
Do you mean the actual window sizes? Those labels can be displayed in elevation view. Dimension strings in elevation view seems quite odd.
-
Not 100% sure where you are headed but I use Carbonite and on the rare instance that I have needed to recover files it has worked well.
-
thanks much will pass it on to my guy
-
What is the advantage to that ?

Thanks for all of the info- I actually had the guy I am working with come to my office and play around with CA and I believe we have settled on a machine- specs below- any final input appreciated. Here the best configuration I could find, incl. 5-year warranty. TOTAL: $2,194.30 It has 32GB compared to 16GB KBird linked to. And the graphics card is 2080 instead of 2070. But the fast hard drive is only 256GB vs 512GB. You'd have 200GB of free space and 1000GB of slower disk space. I think the memory and the higher spec GTX graphics card is more important. If we go for the top . . . Thanks much Mick- Again - remembering I am not computer tech savvy AT ALL- I am assuming that this is a serious upgrade from where I am at now and I should expect a solid increase in performance?
-
Just wanted to see if anyone had string comments one way or the other before I pull the trigger on this set up. Thanks as always for the input.

Sorry for the delayed response - busy times around here. I have been discussing with a computer guy I plan on having help me through purchase and install- he has viewed may of our comments here and has suggested the machine bellow- any thoughts are appreciated.
-
great advice- I will post the specs on what we come up with before i order Thanks
-
Thanks all for the info- I have emailed my computer guy and gave him a link to look over this thread. I don't have any issue spending 2500+ to get a solid machine that will run CA powerfully for the next 5+ years. As with most of you, this is my business and good tools are worth paying for.
-
One note- I understand home construction and CA- not heavy computer lingo-, take it easy on me

I am thinking it is finally time to get a new rig- I purchased my current system about 7 years ago- it has been reliable and made me money. Over the past few years I have upgrade the video card and installed a SSD drive but hat is about it. Recently I have noticed that when running X10 on occasion it will blue screen restart- Slower scroll in and out with cad files. Etc.... Other programs are having issues as well- old version of outlook is acting quirky. Not that I am looking for an excuse to spend money but I feel like it is time for an entirely new machine. Dell has something like this for 1800.00 Alienware Aurora 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Processor Windows 10 Home NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2070 OC 128GB Solid State Drive + 2TB Hard Drive 16GB Memory The Alienware Aurora includes a 128GB SSD + 2TB hard drive. does it sound like I am thinking in the right direction?
