check the 2nd floor wall and make sure it is properly aligned with the wall below. Or...better yet, post your plan so we can help you solve this issue.

Boxed Eave Question - 2 Boxed Eaves at Outside Corner
SNestor replied to JKEdmo's topic in General Q & A
@JKEdmo Jim - you could also design that overhang as I've shown in the attached screen clip. Also...open defaults and make a change to the "3D View Defaults". Have the "sun follows camera" box checked. This will make it so you always have sun on the face of the building you are looking at. Makes life with Chief much better... -
I found this…I gather you will need Adobe Acrobat. I’d bet there is a free app that does something similar. https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/resources/how-to-add-hyperlink-to-pdf.html#:~:text=Choose Tools › Edit PDF › Link, want to create a link.

Attic trusses on multi-level house and garage
SNestor replied to baltimorestef's topic in General Q & A
If you are trying to build attic trusses for the attic in your plan...then, you will have to build a new 3rd floor. In order to have attic trusses you need a floor and ceiling...and knee walls (or full height) with an attic room on the outside of each wall. I've attached instructions from the Chief X15 manual...and a screen clip of the truss I built in your plan. The width of the webs may be too small...but you can open the truss and change all the webs to the width you want. -
Yes…but not everyone knows this. Especially new users.

Eric - adding a 2nd floor of course works. But - you have to account for the floor thickness. If you don't...and you spec 24"...what you will get is the floor thickness plus the 24". For my simple example...transform/replicate to lift the roof was/is very fast...and accurate.

Video Lesson - How to create an A-Frame House
SNestor replied to SNestor's topic in Tips & Techniques
Specifically what "adjustments" are causing you difficulty? Just a note; my template plan that I started with in the video already had a 2nd floor. If you don't have a 2nd floor...you should build a blank 2nd floor before you start. This isn't absolutely necessary...but, if you are trying to follow along in the video and do exactly what I do in the video...then you should have a 2nd floor in your plan before you start. -
The balcony is a "room". If you click in the balcony...then, open it using the door icon on the bottom edit toolbar...in this dialogue, open the structure tab. This is where you can set the elevation for the room. You could also go to "EDIT>RESET TO DEFAULT...select "all floors"....and select "floor heights". You may need to select "ceiling heights" also. This will reset your rooms to the "default" heights...which are specified in "DEFAULTS" (the wrench icon on the top toolbar)...then go to "FLOORS AND ROOMS>FLOOR LEVELS. This is where your default floor/ceiling heights are stored.

Problems When Hanging First Floor Inside Foundation Walls
SNestor replied to livninavl's topic in General Q & A
Open the foundation walls and on the structure tab, check the box "Default Wall Bottom Height". At some point you dragged this wall up or down... You can also achieve the same thing by going to "Edit>Reset to Defaults>Wall Bottom (choose the foundation level) -
Problems When Hanging First Floor Inside Foundation Walls

I think you just have to turn on some layers in the section camera. This is a back clipped section...I turned on these layers; floor joists, rim joists and floor trusses. -
I offer 1-1 training.

New b question if you add a break how do you remove a break?
SNestor replied to cbucks's topic in General Q & A
Join two lines tool…which will appear in the bottom edit toolbar when you click on the polyline. -
@HarrisReno - I think what you were originally attempting is possible (somewhat) but definitely not with the auto roof tool. Here's my attempt...
-
You will have to use a 3D molding poly line drawn using a back clipped section camera. Of course...depending on what style molding you want to use...such as a crown molding...will not join in the corners properly because of the intersection angle. Time consuming...and somewhat difficult task.
-
I agree with Mick...there is some issue with the door you placed. So...just change the door to the standard glass panel door...and change the material to screen. Also...you should edit the "pattern" in the material so it looks correct in Vector view. I've attached a couple screen clips.

You cannot place walls on top of each other. You should create an "AS-Built"....then, make a copy of that and name it "New Plan". Then, using the reference display, reference the "As-Built" Plan into the new plan....or, vice-versa. You may want to create a unique layer set in the As-Built to reference in.

On the foundation level (Level 0) select the three foundation walls at the Garage. Change the wall type to a 10" (or larger if you want) conc. stem wall. Just make a copy of the current stem wall...change the name and the width.
