Take a look at my "fix" plan. Not sure it's exactly what you want...but, you might find a few useful golden nuggets in it. I drew your plan from scratch as there were too many gremlins in trying to fix things in your plan. I created the general spaces...but not every detail. Glenrock clone - Steve Nestor Fix Plan.plan

Open the room, change the room to "deck"...ignore the warning...and then on the deck tab, make sure you check "automatically regenerate deck framing". Chief gives a warning whenever you build a deck over the top of another room...in this case another deck room below. You should change all your deck rooms to the "deck" room type. They aren't "porches".

@Hannahfdc - I messed around with your plan...fixed a few things and modified the roof design. Not sure it's what you want...but maybe it'll serve as inspiration. Your deck rooms were named as "porch"...I changed them to "deck". If you don't want them to be decks...I'd change them to "balconies". Greg Plan - Roof Example.zip

To get the floor...just open the room and on the deck tab, select "automatically regenerate deck framing". Just ignore the warning...you are building a deck over a room below (another deck in this case)...which Chief just cannot seem to contemplate.

If you would post your plan file...that will help you get a good answer. Thanks.

@Hannahfdc - If you would post your plan one of the Chief experts on this forum will give you guidance. Otherwise we are all guessing.

That front wall is a pony wall...and you placed a door into the wall that is cutting the lower portion of the wall. I don't think Chief will show the remaining area of the wall below the door. Just a guess...but, the actual "foundation" wall is below the door. And...since that wall is exposed to freeze...it will have to have a deep footing. Maybe you should have placed the lower level plan on "level 1"...and had a true foundation plan on "level 0"?
-
Steve - Well, I placed the door elevation relative to the "Finished Floor"...along with my change to the "elevation of lower wall top"...and it seems to work. I also turned off the "exterior casing".
-
Steve - well, that actually does not change the foundation plan view. I think this is because you are actually cutting the lower portion of the pony wall?
-
Steve - I think all you need to do is change the top of wall "elevation of lower wall top" for the pony wall. See attached screen clip.

Zero Experience - Can I Model an A-Frame in CA?
SNestor replied to hamcol88's topic in General Q & A
I made this video. A-Frame style homes are fairly easy in Chief. -
Or…just get my Screened Porch Library. https://www.mychiefskills.com

In the SPV (Saved Plan View) for the foundation plan…specify the pony wall display to show the lower wall only for that view. In the floor plan SPV specify the pony wall to show the upper wall.
-
You need separate “saved plan views” …with unique layer sets etc.

Construction Lines w/ Dimensions - Display All Floors
SNestor replied to JKEdmo's topic in General Q & A
Jim - Create a dimension default that you will use to dimension only the construction lines. These dimensions should be on their own layer. Then...create a REF SET (which you had already done) and the only layer on in this set should be the layer you created for these dimensions. Examine the attached plan. If you go to the 2nd floor...you will see the referenced dimensions. BASSETT 2 - PROPOSED - Ref Dim Fix.zip -
Construction Lines w/ Dimensions - Display All Floors
SNestor replied to JKEdmo's topic in General Q & A
You could place those specific dimensions on a unique layer and the use a custom reference layer set to show them on other floors. -
You can only setup one default...but, if you open each roof plane you can assign and different arrow shape, color etc. Also...if you assign a different layer to the label, you can then assign and unique label style to the text. This allows you to change the text font, color and size.
-
You can change the arrow style also....filled, large, small...no fill. Doesn't matter
-
You have to have "auto roofs" turned off. Once this is done...you can open each individual roof plane and change the color of the arrow...and the size. Or...you can group select roof planes and do the same. Not a "Glitch" at all...
