  1. Pat - see the instructions on the attached screen clip; I created this schedule on the foundation level that shows the deck joists...but, the schedule can be on any floor. If you want the schedule on say the first floor you would just have to uncheck the box at the top top of the dialogue that says "include objects from all floors"...then you can specify the only floor you want included.
  2. @Ed_Orum - The stair tool is "smart" and will automatically find the floor to floor height in your plan. You don't need to specify this height...or, the ceiling height. You can get better control of the stair by doing the following; Open your template plan. Double click the stair icon to open your interior stair defaults. Instead of specifying "automatic treads"...specify either "lock tread depth" or "lock number of treads" Now...to get the stair you place in a plan as close to a 7.5" riser - you will still have to open the stair once placed and make a modification; If you "lock the tread depth"...you will have to open the stair and change the "number of treads"....probably (13) will work If you "lock the number of treads"...you will have to open the stair and change the "tread depth"
  3. Wall heights are controlled by the height specified in the room...or, floor defaults. Rooms will derive their height from the "floor default" height.
  4. You could try to pull the wall through...then, make the short interior section "roof cuts wall at bottom"....and pull the ceiling plane past this wall. Post your plan and someone will help you.
  5. The tool to create a custom window muntin only works on windows...not "glass" walls. That is why Gene suggested the wall material region tool. Take a back clipped elevation of the glass wall. Click the wall tool. You should see the wall material region tool. If you double click this tool it'll bring up a dialogue so you can edit what the material will be....and whether to cut the parent layer.
  6. If you want real help…post your plan. Otherwise we are all just guessing at what you need.
  7. Zip the plan then upload the zip file...or place the file on a google drive, dropbox, one drive or anything similar and place a link.
  8. Please post your plan... To do this...save the file, close the plan. Then attach the file to your post.
  9. @KevinMyers - What I'd do is not create a room over the garage at first. Draw the 2nd floor plan and then build the roof. Do not use the "ignore 2nd floor" option. Now...once the roof planes are on and correct...go to the 2nd floor and create a room over the garage using interior walls. Make sure you have room definition. I made this video about rooms over garages...it's in X12 but it's the same in X15...maybe it'll help;
  10. Once your foundation is built and "auto rebuild" is still turned "on"...if you want to change a specific "room" on the foundation level you will have to turn auto rebuild off. It's not really a big deal...you can always rebuild your foundation again (or manually move walls into position)...and then modify the rooms as needed..again. This is why it's a good practice to not build the foundation until you have the main level floor plan as you want it. Below is a screen clip of a test plan I just did in X15...you will see the porch is basement depth. This is because you can only preset the basement depth...and the depth of the garage walls. Chief treats your porch "rooms" as basements.
  11. You can create these with "wall material regions"...or, as Gene suggested create a new wall type - 4" to 8" or whatever you desire. That said, creating small offset walls without much length can be "glitchy" on Chief. They sometimes want to snap where you don't want them. That is why the wall material region is a good alternative...but it is a slight work-around.
  12. You would think…but no.
  13. Once you draw a wall...it will not change by just changing the default. (roofs are the same) If you change the default...you will have to redraw the wall.
  14. @DH7777 - I looked at your plan...just wondering why you have you are using CAD for so many things? Such as the front porch post? Is the plan X15...or are you still using X11 which is what is showing in your "signature".
  15. @ACVNarch I'm sorry...I searched all my Loom Folders and could not locate this video. It's old...and for some reason I must have deleted it.
  16. I'm guessing...but, I think the issue with the "roof return" at the porch is that the return has to extend over the top of another roof. This might be what is causing this auto tool not to work properly. The auto roof needs a wall to attach to...and the railing wall which the roof return is assigned to stops at the garage...but the roof needs to continue past the garage wall.
  17. @mthd97 - If you ever manually adjust a wall top or bottom...for whatever reason, the wall disconnects from the default height or bottom...or sometimes both depending on you it was manually edited. If you open the wall dialogue and go to the structure tab and you see the box for "Default Wall Top Height"...or bottom is not unchecked and no longer grayed out...this wall will no longer move at all no matter what you do to a room or floor height change. The bottom line is that rooms defined wall heights and the "best practice" is to not manually move your walls up/down.
  18. If you are unable to open a room…then some or all of the walls that enclose the space are set as “no room definition”. All the walls must have room definition. You will have to open each wall and uncheck “no room definition”.
  19. I gave it a shot...I did have to manually draw in the roof return. I placed notes on the roof plan view of this drawing; Here is the file; _ExistingHouse - fix plan.plan.zip
  20. Made you a quick video; How to add a Molding to divided sidings - Watch Video
  21. You should post your plan... Close the plan and then upload to the site. Depending on the size you may have to zip the file first.
  22. Is this what you are trying to accomplish? I did this by changing the "roof group" of your porch room to roof group (1). I opened the short walls of the deck and on the roof tab changed the pitch to 4/12. I then rebuilt the roof. By placing the porch on roof group two it treats this area as a separate roof area...and will not attempt to combine it with the main roof. The result isn't something I'd like...but I'm not sure I'm even doing what you want.
  23. Just a guess…but all rooms where you are going to want attic trusses need knee walls and a ceiling. It doesn’t appear you do. You have to have a “room” before you can get attic trusses
  24. Here is a quick video...(plan attached) Jambruins - Auto Build Roof #2 - Watch Video Filion house - auto roof try 1.plan.zip
  25. Yes...all auto. A little manual cleanup required to make it correct.
