Jonathan - I had the ambient up because I had photon mapping off. I was trying to get the sun fairly straight down theough the skylight at around 12-1 PM. I had the sun brightness turned down because of it coming in through the door and windows. I will try again....

n someone take a look at this plan and see if they can set the sun to come through the skylight in the kitchen. I have changed the time of day several times but the sun always comes in from the sliding door and windows on the side. I am confused. Please ignore exterior of house as it is not needed. Tejada.zip

On several occasions lately I have written a reply and hit post and nothing happened. I am writing this post to see if I can post it and 2ndly to see if anyone else has had this problem. I had a recent upgrade of windows 10 and I think this started afterwards. ALso get a blinking circle next to my cursor. Tried to reply to this and nothing happened. I rebooted my machine and still cannot reply to this post but can edit the original.(if this goes through) Weird!

Another issue you will have is when someone looks at it on another monitor. It WILL look different. Just a heads up.

can't tell without the plan. Many possibilities.

I use a solid railing wall and change the rail to 3/4x6, same a sill material. Apply marble texture or whatever. Set height as desired for wall.

Good idea Jonathan! I was thinking of something similar but I like your approach better.

Joe - I think we are talkin g about different things. Here is what I an after.

Scott - I may be leaving the business sometime this coming year.(retiring) Not sure I want to upgrade so why Beta Test? I may still try to do some design work but am considering moving to Florida from Pennsylvania so would need to establish a client base. Lots of decisions to be made.

The design should compliment the room. I have found a minimum width of 5'6" will work. Enough room for shelves/hanging on each side and room enough to walk in between. A lot of closet systems are 14" deep so maybe 6' wide is better. After that it is about the entrance door/no door etc. Use uncommon sense. Common sense is in short supply! ;o)

In my area they would call it a dormer. The "dormer" would typically have some slope to it, probably tieing into the ridge. Often done on one side of the house only. IF I was going to do both sides I would do a standard 2nd story.

Post the plan. textures are not visible in vector mode. Are you sure you are using standard render mode?

Thanks Joe - just going to be doing a kitchen and master bath design. Just need the space to look right. All take offs are manual.
