  1. I don't think that Chief uses SLI ,so make sure before you buy. Also remember that renders use the video card and ray traces use the CPU.
  2. just take whatever door you need and change the material to glass, if I understand you correctly.
  3. Scott, What do you know about toilet safety. Also the porcelain throne must be able to withstand the massive forces that some people throw down upon it, not even saying about what's required in the floor structure. The hole size also needs to be a large one, for those embarrassing moments when a regular hole just won't do.
  4. Set your snap grids to something like 1/4" or turn them off.
  5. Swing it out just incase you have a medical problem while sitting on the pot. If the door swings in, they wouldn't be able to open it and would have to cut it out. Yes, I really think of these things. I started doing all those that way a long time ago.
  6. Yes, I have been adding "overhead or roll up in the comment section.
  7. Yes ,you have to zoom in to see it sometimes, to me it just another click that is not needed.
  8. I just draw a line and center on that when It won't center in an area.
  9. With your computer spec's, I don't see it as a computer problem, something else is giving you problems, maybe an old program or windows update, who knows. Network problem? Video card driver update?
  10. I would definitely go with Windows 8, don't get left in the dust. Chief tests on windows 8, that is the future. It runs very well on my windows 8.1 system.
  11. Not for me, running like butter. You might try to update you video card drivers.
  12. Any you can always change the name on the plan to show as Deck. I always use balcony if I need a solid waterproof floor.
  13. after sending to layout just drag it to wherever you want, it stays unless you have to send another view for some reason.
  14. No Chief doesn't have any of this probably b/c everyone has a different computer and video card. My setting are just from experimenting with them. You may find a different setting works better for you. You really can't make a mistake as you can always reset. Also make sure you turn off "software edge smoothing" in the render DBX, let the card do it if you have a fairly new card.
  15. ok here is the rest of it.
  16. I turn off everything about software settings and let the hardware do its thing, If you have a newer card it better to let the hardware do it. I also set up Chief in the Nvidia control panel and just use the recomemended settings for the "Manage 3d section. It seems faster to me.
  17. Whatever layer set you use for your elevations, just change the line style to dotted for foundation walls and footings in that view. You can also set the line style on the layout view by using the edit lines and changing them there, but if you have to refresh the view you lose all the edits so its best to change it in the layer set you use to send it to the layout.
  18. Also if you had put your schedules in a cad view it will still update and is live.
  19. Yes, that is a problem if you have 3 floors but you can copy/ paste, and put it on a different layer for some things. What we really need is to be able to have mutable reference sets. I think the op just had a simple reference situation. We have asked for that ,maybe X7
  20. Using a Reference layer set or anno-set will let you show anything you want on any level. I use it on every job. Don't ever draw anything twice and stay away from cad work whenever you can.
  21. I don't know, all I know is, I had to hire an electrician to fix it. That's how scary I am. Penny says she will never let me do that again, in fact she doesn't let me do a lot of things since 1976 when a lawn mower ran over my foot and split one sneaker in half, I didn't want to look at my foot but had to and everything (my foot) was untouched.
