  1. I have been doing Calgreen for a few years now but all of the cities I do work in are just requiring you to just add all the notes to the plan. No calc's required yet. Haven't seen any enforcement on it yet also.
  2. Actually I brought in my details from a cad program I did them in, many years ago, I just copy change and save them to my lib. to insert into the layout. The details I show are just the usual ones I use all the time. I have developed a lot of details over 40 years. Never draw them anymore, just change as needed.
  3. Here is a short video explaining it. did it when using X7 http://www.screencast.com/t/2AD1ckxAEH7
  4. Develop a layout and plan template with all that stuff already in it and you will not forget anything, you will probably delete stuff (its easier than adding stuff.). I always look for things that shorten the drawing time. Also I have all views already sent to the layout so you can just open them , change the name and start drawing, everything automatically sent to the layout.
  5. Reminds me of a lot of 60's homes, nicely done.
  6. Because sections are cuts so there is nothing to reflect. Camera views take into consideration the whole model.
  7. Did you turn on all the foundation items, like, footings foundation walls, slabs, in that camera view. ?
  8. Walls have multi-line labels now. You can put any description in that label and turn it on to create a wall legend of sorts. Joe has been asking for Chief to release more of Ruby so we could just add it to elevations and details. Right now a wall label is it.
  9. I asked the same question to Chief and they enlightened me, at the user Meeting last summer.
  10. The blurriness is intended, it will print at high resolutation. It's intended to speed up things for viewing, its ok.
  11. I didn't have a recovery partition to start with, b/c when I installed an ssd drive, it couldn't copy the recovery partition. As far as the boot sector , I had to enlarge it, that fixed that. I get to 99% and it always reverts back to windows 8.1. At this time I really didn't want to do a clean install b/c it takes me 3 days to do it, and I'm going to get a new computer soon anyway, so it would be a waste of time right now. Thank for the info. your right, Dell refuses to update the drivers on my 5 year old machine, the problem being it still works great. When I purchased it ,paid a lot of money to get top of the line so it would last longer. I guess I learned my lesson. 5 or 6 years was good though.
  12. Not sure what's going on but I never see that, and never use Chief's pdf's. I use Adobe. Chief's built in PDF's also generate huge files as compared to Adobe. Printing to PDF of any brand has also gotten much slower with the X8 release.
  13. Are you using a clean profile plan created for X8, it could make a difference b/c it's new in X8.
  14. It still won't let me upgrade, good luck
  15. You can also just change the material of the top cap to tile and size it to what you need.
  16. I would try to get a job, or side job ,under someone experienced. That's the only fast track of learning, I know of . A lot of times schooling just teaches you a lot of things you really don't need(The long road) unless ,of course, you want to become an licensed Architect, then the schooling is needed. Your contractor boss should enlighten you about construction methods though.
  17. Just change the label, Under "specify label" in the label tab, and include in the schedule
  18. I managed to get them to work except for the ceiling height ,maybe Chief didn't like the way you renamed them for some reason. You have way too many anno-sets for me, couldn't figure it out, and your wall defs are different. I would try a default profile plan especially if you brought forward from a previous version, something is screwed up for sure. STORY POLE PLAN.plan
  19. Best release in many years, X8 really make my job a lot easier and runs very smooth.
  20. A square footage price and or an hourly rate would vary greatly from area to area. There is no rule of thumb you could possibly follow nation wide.
  21. Chief has been testing windows 10 for a while now and says it's good to go.
  22. The overhang of the wall cap in railing walls are removed when you make the top rail to 1/16 and you also uncheck "post to rail", then you can put your p-solid on top if you want
  23. A while back I purchased an SSD, tb size drive, with everything on it, and it made a huge difference for me but It really depends on what you already have. If you have a killer system , you probably won't see as much difference. Mine was getting a little old so it really helped me.
