Johnny, Can you explain in a bit more detail why you can't copy/paste into a new plan? Why do you need to block walls or other elements to do a copy/paste?
-
Also, the window will change size depending on side of the window you click at the jamb.
-
Once you have seleced the window by the jamb, and placed your cursor over the windows temp dim size , the cursor should change to a hand, then click the dim, a small box will display indicating the current window dim, change it as reuired. PS, you need to select the window and then select it again by the jamb. Once you have selected it the second time by the jamb, the small grip will change into a large grip.

On your "Floor Plan Dimensioned Layer Set", turn off the display of the "Dimensions, Framing - Floor" layer - the unwanted dimensions are your floor framing dimensions.

Rich, You give bananas to monkeys to reward good behaviour...

Or maybe this one where the treads wrap around the post. But using the stair tool as well as other methods to get the treads to wrap. There are many tools available that should get you close to what you want.
-
I can get close pretty quickly - but probably no banana. The glass clamps and some other details would take a bit longer - but mostly doable. It may also be difficult to get the exact newel spacing correct and I had trouble wrapping the treads around the pole. I have to make the point though that any spiral tool that Chief may develop would never be able to include every custom type of spiral stair - there are just too many variables and options, too many details.
-
What type of spiral stair do you want? This one took about ten minutes using the stair tool, oh, and a cylinder.

Yes, but the problem with using single letter commands is that they preclude you from using any other shortcuts that start with P.

How to bring the siding up to the bottom of the roof sheathing?
glennw replied to Straight_Line's topic in General Q & A
You could try automatic or manual Roof Blocking. Chances are if you have built auto roof framing, the blocking is there. Check and see if the Framing, Roof Blocking layer is turned on. -
I have Pan mapped to a "PA" shortcut. Start dragging the wall. PA while dragging. Pan - you can Pan multiple times if needed. Click to place endpoint. Works in continuous draw mode as well.

Did you create a 3D Molding Symbol or a 2D Molding Profile? The first are made from 3D objects, the second are made from a 2D cad profile. Looks like you may have created a 3D Molding Symbol. A 3D Molding Symbol will not wrap an external corner - or an internal corner, it just looks like it does - it stops perpendicular to the walls.

What is the best way to import location maps???
glennw replied to clearvuedesign's topic in General Q & A
As a PS to this thread. Both Google Maps and Apple Maps have a save as .pdf function which should be much better quality than a screen grab and which will allow you to import the .pdf into your plan or layout. -
I like Eric's first suggestion best - His second suggestion - will require a roof rebuild to remove the gutters.

Once you have the windows tabbed on the side of the screen, grab one by the tab and drag it over the edge of the screen. Do the same for each tab. Or you should be able to drag the windows down under the first window that you dock on the side. Make sure you have Side Window Drag Docking checked in Preferences They should stack like this.

Hoi Benny, the 0 just gives you the absolute thinnest line display thickness on your monitor to make it easier when you zoom far in for precise measurements etc. For example, when placing cabinets and you want to zoom in real close to see if 2 cabinets are just touching or overlapping just enough to mess with dimension strings. You won’t find this kind of information in the help files. Which is the reason we have a user forum. Glen must be grumpy today. (kidding) Ok, I will make it easy:
-
Open the dbx for the Dimension Defaults you are using>Text Style panel>Options>uncheck Transparent.
-
That information is very easy to find in the help file.
-
It doesn't look like Layer Display Options to me. In layout, it looks like it could be File>Print>Drawing Sheet Setup>Advanced Line Weight Options to me. Is it set at 1/100mm or is it set at something else?
-
Did anyone else notice the Wall Type Definition dbx in the video?

I just watched the webinar and while a little disappointed that there is no real time ray tracing on the mac, the other improvements will keep me happy. One thing I want to comment on is the question from a user that went unanswered on how to make the wall joints and other vertical edges appear vertical in a 3D perspective view (like they are in an orthographic view). It was pointed out that this was a feature of another program and it seemed to be assumed that Chief did not have this tool or capability. If you do want vertical edges to appear vertical in a perspective view (a 2 point perspective instead of a 3 point perspective), all you have to do is change the camera's Tilt Angle to zero. Maybe the person who asked the question will see this.

You could try and make it a Partition Wall... or use the Edit Wall Layer Intersection tool.

Where can we find this webinar please?

x12 plan changing to x10 when sent to flash drive
glennw replied to RJBPILOT's topic in General Q & A
This was confusing in your OP. It sounded like the file format was changing versions when it is really the file association is changing. The file format is still remaining as X12. If you try and open one of the files in X12, by first opening Chief and then opening the file, it works OK? -
x12 plan changing to x10 when sent to flash drive
glennw replied to RJBPILOT's topic in General Q & A
Try this on both machines. Right click on any Chief .plan file, click Get Info, select Chief X12 in Open With, click Change All. Do the same on both machines for .layout files.
