  1. Maybe fill out your sig some more so we know if you are on mac or windows Save plan A and layout A in documents/project_A exit CA in windows explorer: GoTo documents/ and copy and paste project_A windows will rename to project_A_1 open your new folder project_A_1 and rename the plan_A and layout_A should be good to go
  2. It can be helpful to save a polyline region set to use recessed lights to your library and then pin it to your toolbar. The poly region just distributes Recessed lights quickly without hassle, takes 2 seconds
  3. Cheers and thanks, I'm not sure, you may be correct, I always have user added lighting systems as I am usually creating con docs...not sure the current state of the generate light
  4. You could turn up exposure, also PBR isn't a miracle worker, you have a room with zero direct light, it's going to be pretty dark..try taking a picture with a late model iPhone and no flash and it would look about the same
  5. POST 26 A new old floor! Using Substance Designer created this floor from my oak plan floor in the previous upload DOWNLOAD: RABS ROUGH GOLDEN OAK FLOOR.calibz Enjoy!!! The uploads are slowing down as I am concentrating efforts on producing a very robust toolbar hotkey front-end for tablets...I am limited to ASCII characters....typing this post from this tablet interface!! stay tuned: CLICK ME TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!!!
  6. Downloaded substance designer and took a swing at an old golden oak floor similar to gelbuilding's...its in my symbols and content thread in my sig
  7. Mind sharing your plan file with your settings saved for tracing. Try unchecking compute caustics? try turning up ambient light... try letting it run for 100 passes....there are a great number of things that can cause noise in a ray trace.
  8. don't understand...why aren't you selecting the line as designating it as centerline in your dimension dbx?
  9. I try and avoid displacement maps as much as possible, just introduces so many problems, especially with CA geometry. CA would likely get a lot of tech support calls... Clipping masks and multiple diffuse layers for one material on the other hand would be a big ask for me
  10. Thank you, that of course means a lot to me. Yes, I need to clean it up, it's a combination of CA vids and playing video games, haha! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbkgwAcrZQP0Ek0bNmqpgAQ?view_as=subscriber Also wanted to mention the reason for the side by side was I was able to utilize tools across the two windows instead of having to click in a second tabbed view and re-select a tool I was already using in the the previous tabbed view. Which is why I switched to having only 3d items in the side bar otherwise we would see them as a division between the two windows of plan vs 3d
  11. Thank you, very helpful- another question, will substance designer allow you to tile a texture while randomizing- this is the biggest time sap for me when creating say flooring textures or tile- it seems as if it does just that, which would be worth buying the whole suite for me btw- not fair that I've been living in the dark ages under a rock all this time
  12. If you could please quote me next time so I will get notification,I'd appreciate it.... else I might've missed this question If I split a 3d view out of CA and the window-left arrow to tile my 2 CA instances I get this result: notice my 3d toolbars are on the side, and my plan toolbars are top and bottom. I've actually been reducing my toolbars to just user added items as I transition to my new toolbar system on my touch tablet. I'm typing this response using my ipad with this system- which is in development still: this layout has already changed quite a bit since these screenshots were taken
  13. does substance "player" have the ability to load your own textures?
  14. I bought substance years ago and never got around to playing with it...looking forward to digging in when time allows...thanks CA team, very cool post.
  15. POST 25 A set of floors I created, reduced and optimized for CA PBR. Keep voting and I will try and bring new content accordingly. remember that these floors look very sharp when using a color to " blend with material" DOWNLOAD: RABS FLOORING PACK 1.calibz Enjoy!!! The uploads are slowing down as I am concentrating efforts on producing a very robust toolbar hotkey front-end for tablets...I am limited to ASCII characters....typing this post from this tablet interface!! stay tuned: CLICK ME TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!!!
  16. Exactly, I was hoping to decrease error by avoiding the cmd prompt instructions. you bring up a good point though, I hadn't run into any shell extension problems but I also have only dabbled in shell extensions briefly in past. I will amend that post to suggest removing the extension afterward if you think it advisable.
  17. Only problem with that is every symbol i upload has 2-4 texture maps minimum...pretty time consuming to recreate.
  18. dreamview is right...dream you should fill out your signature so that we know what software you're using. this icon:
  19. I run into sync problems with google drive though i still use it day to day with my company. I prefer onedrive
  20. When a job demands that level of detail and a large number of high res materials I typically render outside of CA but the method is still the same- You have to create material ID Vector masks and shoot a scene a handful of 4k/8k/16k materials at a time and then swap each material in with your final product in photoshop utilizing the vector mask. I explain the ID mask in the PBR video I think you both watched and also here: An example scene from this method- turned this into a fake canvas painting-haha
  21. goto CAD/Cad Detail Management and select "purge." Save plan and check to see if that significantly reduced your .plan file size
  22. Would just do this with a molding polyline using a round molding. A bit laborious to make multiple bends in multiple views but doable in X-11 there are a host of barn doors and there is now a barn door tool in your door dropdown menu
  23. kind've a tough one...I think this would be unique to the space, can you think of just say 3 shelves that would make sense for the end user? might be possible, stretch planes and zones are limiting
