Dennis_Gavin
Is there any way to control newel post orientation on angled corners? Getting one in line newel and one angled newel is not correct.

Dennis_Gavin
Can you splain what that is and how it might work? THis is a deck rail with newel posts.
CJSpud
Dennis: I was talking about the "Edit Wall Layer Intersection" tool. I tested it with a deck railing and I get the same results you do. Not good for just trying to use Chief's deck tools.
Dennis_Gavin
yeah, not how it shold be for a deck railing. Maybe TS has a solution.
chief58
What if you made the existing post 1/4" or less and then put your own post in
joey_martin
I believe if you draw the angled section first, then bring the other rails off that, the newels will show angled.
Dennis_Gavin
Both kind of work arounds. Joey - what if I want the posts as part of the other rail sections. I think the problem may stem from the fact that Chief won't draw a rail section longer on one side?
joey_martin
Joey - what if I want the posts as part of the other rail sections Then draw the angled section last....
Larry_Sweeney
Dennis................Do you want the angled newels set at 22.5 degrees so the railing on both sides of the newel come into the newel at the same angle? If this is the case then you will probably have to go with Ray's suggestion. I run into this problem many times and up to now aways have gone with Ray's solution. If there is a better way I'm all ears.
Dennis_Gavin
Joey - as Larry suggests I want the rail to come in on one side of the newel. Not on the "point". I have been running the last couple of days and just dropping back into the forum to check up on things. Thanks all for suggestions. I still consider this a problem area for chief's railings.
