Dishwashers

Hey guys, I just downloaded X17 a week ago. There is a supposed to be a fix for it but I cannot get dishwashers to insert into cabinets like past versions. I also see where basin sinks with faucet all in one and certain slipper tubs are not available anymore? I downloaded every library item available as well.

In X17 dishwashers are placed as a standalone item, not in cabinets like they used to be.

 

When you sandwich them between two cabinets, it automatically places a countertop over the top of the DW.

I just copied one built-in from X15 and will roll with that. Sometimes DW's aren't sandwiched in the middle but on the end of a base cabinet run.

Yes, cause in the real world I always buy an extra base cabinet just so I can put a dishwasher in it.  *eye roll*

 

As for having a dishwasher at the end of a run, build yourself a partition or filler that matches what you would actually use and put it in your library.

Then you can extend the side of the countertop of the cabinet next to the dishwasher to extend over the item. If you want a finished end, then follow DB's idea for making a filler. I have one in my library too for the spaces that don't auto-fill when laying out the kitchen.

Then you would order a 1-1/2" or 3" dishwasher end and Chief would count it as a cabinet and place your countertop. Just like the guys in the field are going to do it.

I like this.......the DW is inserted into a base in my home by the way.

Why the eye roll? It has been asked before on here I just found. Besides, it has been the easiest way to do DW's for years IMO. I remove that cabinet from the schedule anyway.

I stand corrected, sorry for the snarky answer.  Apparently, there is such a thing as a dishwasher cabinet (although I have never used one myself):

I always thought Chief's way of handling dishwashers was a bit goofy.  I like the new way of just placing the dishwasher as a free-standing unit and then placing the cabinets next to it.  Same as a stove.  The only thing I don't like is that I have to move it out from the wall to align it with the front of the cabinet.  I have made copies of the Chief ones and added my own back spacing to solve this.

The old way worked fine, As a trainer, telling a class to put the DW in a cabinet got a few strange looks from the class!! The new way is better and more accurate is today's world.

No worries DB, I thought everyone did it the same way haha. I will change my ways and do it differently now. It actually makes more sense with how you and few others who chimed in here do it. I think what happened with me is from the very first time I started on X10 CA automatically inserted them in cabinets and I have done it that way since.

I always felt like Chief just substituted the cabinet for the DW. It was quick and clean resulting in the same outcome which is the DW being between two cabinets with a countertop. The he new way allows more control and extends to other under counter appliances such as mini fridges, ice makers, etc. I suppose that is the trade off.
