msmith964
Hi, Does anyone know if creating this style of shed roof with rounded sides is possible in CA or should I just use a 3D solid? I'm using v15 Pro. Thanks!

TeaTime
Heh. I think I need more Tea. Looking again at that image I'm realizing that's not a true elevation, that curve is the eave, looking from below, huh? Yeah this has to be done manually, and it'll only be as smooth as you make it. With most polylines you can use a Change Line/Arc button to change a straight line to an Arc - but not with Roofs. Instead, you'll need to draw out an Arc to the size of the curve you're looking for, then with it selected use the Convert to Polyline tool to convert it into a segmented polyline. Break up the Eave edge and manually adjust it to match.

I think it is a true elevation, it's a shed roof, like msmith said. The high edge is facing us. But I liked your first "interpretation"!

Yeah I was really on a roll with that one -- hey I don't question people's design concepts! 2 minutes ago, Chrisb222 said: That's not the "Long Island" variety is it?? lol Oh, yeah maybe that's the problem... maybe LESS tea... I'm gonna go lay down somewhere.
Solution glennw Posted May 2, 2023 Solution Share Posted May 2, 2023 Or.. Use a rectangular polyline with one side converted to a curve. Then convert the curve to a polyline with a high number of sides. Select the roof and then use boolean subtraction to subtract the polyline from the roof. 2
DBCooper
Glenn, you are the man! Just don't forget to convert the curve to a poly because it seems to do bad things.
TeaTime
Hey - ya know. I never actually considered using Subtract on a dang roof plane!! Didja know it works flawlessly with Splines?!
glennw
Or, easier still... Use an invisible curved wall. You can change the Facet Angle in the wall dbx. The beauty of this way is that the roofs can stay as auto build.
msmith964
Thank you all! I think Glenn has the solution! FYI - not my design. Just transposing someone else's!
