northwoods1
Hello, I would like to know how to create a timber detail on the exterior gable of a house. Does anyone know how to do this? I attached a picture of what I am trying to create. Thanks.
HumbleChief
You could start here - https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=timber+frame+chief+architect
Larry_Sweeney
This type of detail can be done easily using p-solids. When adding the wood grain material you will probably have to copy the material and change the grain direction to conform with the angle of the timbers you make. DRAWZILLA
You can also create a truss there and modify it.
northwoods1
Larry, I am some what new to chief, did you mean polyline solid by p-solid? Could you explain in a little more detail how you could achieve this? Thanks for all the responses everyone else.
Gawdzira
He did mean polyline solid. If you draw your solids in the elevation view it will be easy to manipulate them. Also, you can use the Make Parrellel tool to rotate the entire object to match your slope of the roof.
