ACADuser
I have a condo that need to be mirrored. I want the original to remain as is so there are two units. What is the best way. I ACAD I would create a base drawing & xref in the one side & xref a mirrored copy on the other. That way I could still modify the base unit floor plan & not have to deal with modifying two units every time there is a floor plan change. yusuf-333
in the edit menu, select area all floors. before doing the above command put a cad line(for condos the common wall will represent) to be the plane you want the mirror should be. don't forget after selecting area all floors to click on the mirror command which you will find at the bottom of your screen. this appears when you select objects. that is where you can find, the point to point move(like offset in A.cad),trim, extend, mirror, chamfer, fillet and others equivalent to the modify tool bar in AUTO CAD. ACADuser
OK I see you did it. Thanks, But in the Edit menu I see Select ALL but not select area in all floors. Can you be more specific?
ACADuser
OK I tried this: Select Edit>Edit Area>Edit Area (All Floors) Marquee around the right side of the partition wall Copy from the edit tool bar. Reflect about object. Choose the partition wall as center. Then the plans is reflected but only the elevator block is left on the right side as if only that object was copied. The left side has all objects including the elevator block.
rlackore
It would be nice if we could mirror layout boxes instead of having to add all the extra geometry in the plan file.
ACADuser
Eric, Did you do it floor by floor? Because I can't get the entire plan to copy. Procedure: Draw a rectangle around plan. Select rectangle Edit> Edit Area> Edit Area(All Floors) Edit> Copy Mirror Looks like the copy failed. I did get it to work by : Draw a rectangle around plan. Select rectangle Edit> Edit Area> Edit Area(All Floors) Edit> Copy->Paste Paste near by Mirror that copy Move back into position.
lbuttery
Alan: don't use a rectangle "marquee" use select edit area as in post #5 THEN draw the rectangle "marquee" Lew
steph_en
Late to the party, perhaps for future inquiries--worked for me: Reverse Plan The Reverse Plan tool is a quick wayto mirror a plan so that everything onall floors of the entire plan is swapped left toright. Select Tools> Reverse Plan to reflect anentire plan right to left, as though it werereflected about a vertical line. Reversing a plan rebuilds the entire modeland affects views sent to layout. MikeJG
It would be nice if we could mirror layout boxes instead of having to add all the extra geometry in the plan file. That's a really great idea. You should post it in suggestions.
yusuf-333
It is better to use cad poly lines since it allows you to select any irregular shaped selection. For example when you need to mirror L shaped part of a building that has common area at the middle that shouldn't be coppied , simply draw L shaped poly line around it, select the poly line, while selection is active go to edit menu and select edit area all floors then mirror it as usual. This way is more broader way to do it.
