External walls with different materials meeting at corners

I'm having issues getting two joining external walls to have different materials and meet on the external corner ( pebble dash and brick) . I've checked my intersections and their mitered correctly and if i select ' through end/start' in structural for the wall it just shifts the issue to the adjoining wall. Please help?

Hi, I have tried  this the intersection tool the corners are all mitered correctly to the corner. If then use the Wall Spec dialog and select Structural then choose 

'Through wall at end' it just shifts the issue to the adjoining wall. There has to be an answer to this besides using a 'polyline solid' to layer over the issue.

It's meant to have Peddledash on the large elevation and Brick on the rear elevation. I'm unable to get the materials to meet in the corner. 

I can simply use a polysolid, set the depth to 1mm and place it over the corner however this doesn't seem right I sure you should be able to 

get the material of choice to fully cover the external face of any given wall from corner to corner.

Pebbledash is similar to plaster or render on the external of a property, attached is the cross section showing the issue. 


I can solve this problem as I mentioned using a polysolid and setting depth to 1mm and using the eyedropper to match materials, however this seems very lengthily for what 

I believe should be a standard request "to get materials to end at the end of the wall."


In the attached picture, the ground floor shows the use of a polysolid and the 1st floor shows how where the software ends my material choice, I'm trying to get the peddledash (caramel colour on main elevation) to end on the corner so the bricks are not on show from this elevation.

Your "pebble dash" walls seem to be brick walls that you have painted with a pebble dash material.


Is pebble dash the same thickness as brick?


If you define your walls correctly -- the pebble dash wall having a thin layer of pebble dash, I imagine you can make the walls do what you want.

Its no different at all both are correct, however as individuals we process information differently and the sentence 

"our "pebble dash" walls seem to be brick walls that you have painted with a pebble dash material." used by Eric made me understand what Eric and George

were both saying, and looking back at George's solution it is clear he resolved it also. I would say adding an additional 1mm also makes no difference to the

build it wouldn't be the 100% correct method, I simply and stupidly didn't change my wall to the correct one.

Absolutely not, this is an existing property and pebble-dash is an outdated 1970's solution to ex-council property here in the UK. Unfortunately if an extension is being

designed under permitted development, planning reg's require us to maintain existing materials and blend new with old.

Okay.   Then I don't believe the solutions above are really what you should be doing.  You should really be setting your wall definitions to reflect the actual real world structure.  If you don't have brick on the side walls then that layer should be removed from your new wall definition.  Define your walls as they're actually being built...then, and only then (after your wall definitions are correct) should you start futzing around with fixing connections.

      Newbie to Home Designer Pro! I've watched a bunch of tutorials, taken the bootcamp, and searched the help system and forum... Seems like I'm missing something very simple?
      How do you make a wall that has exterior on both sides? For example: an exterior accent wall (like the pony wall (?) in the pic coming off the left-side of the entry) OR specifically the walls making up the exposed Covered Entry in the pic--which would have a foundation, ceiling, roof, and most-importantly an exterior layer (stone) on both sides? Do I need to create this type of wall from scratch? Isn't this a common thing?
      I've tried create a new wall type and altering a specific drawn exterior wall to no avail. Scratching my head here and feeling silly that I can't figure it out!

      Our Content Development Team has been churning out new PBR friendly materials over the past few releases. These are materials that include a combination of Normal Maps, AO Maps, Roughness Maps, and Metal Maps. We use a software specifically designed to generate custom materials for 3D Rendering called Substance Designer. The program leverages parametric values to control sizing, colors, pattern, and other elements to generate unique tile-able texture maps along with automatically producing the other relevant maps need to create the effects that you expect to see in PBR and Ray Trace views.
      Our process includes generating individual materials then importing them into Chief Architect and distributing the catalogs that you download and use. This converts the parametric materials into static images that aren't as flexible as those that are created in the Substance Designer Program.
      Much like the Client Viewer and 3D Viewer products that are available for use with Chief Architect, Substance offers a product that allows others to leverage the parametric files to create their own custom materials... without needing to be an expert of the full-fledged program. We would like to invite you to try it out and create your own custom materials from the file we've set up for Tile.
      How does it work?
      First of all, a healthy understanding of how materials work inside of Chief Architect is a good starting point, and we just happen to have a couple primer videos ready for you here.

      about a year ago, with an X12 updates, thick wall connections (anything over 8" thick) became unstable...especially when 3 walls intersect.
      I'm attaching an X12 plan that demonstrates several issues I'm having.  Curious if others see the same behavior.  notes within the plan describing the behaviors
      I realize that layered walls will likely fix much of this but I do not like layered walls....they have a whole set of issues that I don't want to get into the pros and cons.  again, this worked fine before, but broke with an X12 update and is still broken in X13 beta.
      Appreciate everyone's input.

      I changed the defaults for the Glass Pony Wall and I would now like to change them back to their original defaults, but I don't recall the original settings. Is there an easy way to do this?
