DenisonDrywall 0 Posted December 9, 2020 I have a client that has a very specific piece of art (a print that is 6' x 3.5') that we are desigining into the house. I have a 2D image of it and I can make it show up in 2d elevations as such, but how do i make it show up in a 3D view? Thanks,
solver 1630 Posted December 9, 2020 Did you search the Chief site, or the forum for maybe artwork?
DenisonDrywall 0 Posted December 9, 2020 i searched but i didn't try 'artwork' as a search word.
ericepv 18 Posted December 9, 2020 You'll need to import the image into your user library as a new material which you can he specify as a finish in the dialog box for your frame (or whatever you're using).
DenisonDrywall 0 Posted December 9, 2020 ok. the artwork search helped in the knowledge base. that was easy peasy but now it only shows up as a white box in elevation and not the image itself. why is that? works fine in 3D.
Joe_Carrick 2362 Posted December 9, 2020 You would need to create the Pattern from Texture. Vector views only show patterns, not textures.
ericepv 18 Posted December 9, 2020 Like Joe said, you won't see it in a Vector view, try standard or watercolor.
Joe_Carrick 2362 Posted December 9, 2020 Also note that even if you do use the "create Pattern from Texture" it might not be a very successful representation. This functionality is a bit difficult to get really good results with.
glennw 1024 Posted December 10, 2020 Try: Build Image>Create Billboard Image. This will display in both rendered (as long as you have Textures set to display) and vector views (with Patterns toggled on or off). This was one I did a while ago. The painting on the wall is a photo of their painting.
