I've created a highly ornate Driveway Wrought Iron Entry gate!

I spent several days creating a very ornate driveway gate for my personal residence.  It's 20'x5' tall with a rise to 7' in the center.  I've added it in the Symbols Library for anyone interested!

Very nice...

Nice Job JB. At 20' I'm assuming that gate

is going to be a slider. Will you need to put

a horizontal bar near the top for the rollers

to ride on? It can detract from the intended

design.

While no where near as ornate, I too designed

a 12' x 7' entry gate for the duplex on our property.

It turned out pretty nice. Hope you have a good

metal guy to bring it to life.

I hope not, I am hopeful that the rollers can ride on the lower bar I created but will find out when I meet with the Fabrication Company next week.  The good news is that they are extremely capable!  Just look at the VERY unique 10' wide by 12' tall entry door that I designed for my personal residence and they fabricated it exacted as designed!

Very impressive. Did you model that door in

Chief as well? Looks like you are definitely

in good hands as far as the fabrication goes.

The Live Oak Estates are really our inside

joke. They are actually a pair of 480 sq ft

one bedroom, one bathroom rental units

that we are now passing off as an exclusive

gated community. :)

Thanks, yes I had the Fabricator send me CAD files of some of the basic shapes and then I modified them and created the design, however, I did not take the time to create actual CAD blocks and create a Model/Symbol as I did with the gate.

      Hi There,

I am a current chief architect user and have a question in regards to the contour tool and driveway tool.

I have a plan that has a sloping site that I am trying to accurately portray in 3d for both client and the Local Council.
From the road front the site slopes left to right and from the back to front.
(I have attached Images shown what I currently have)

My question is there something that I am missing I have also tried in elevation converting/extracting a polyline solid but it doesn't quite work.

I have attached a link to the 3d viewer but can add a plan if need be.   https://3d-viewer.chiefarchitect.com/go?share=503392208525732

      Hi All,

OK, I give.  No clue why I can't get my driveways to cut through the curb, creating a nice, graduated slope.  Dumb mistake, I'm sure.  Someone show me mercy; hurry.  Please.  :-)

is anyone aware of a specific catalog, free or otherwise, that contains single, rectangular wall-mounted flood lights?  the default catalog contains two variations of floodlights but they both have a round profile and it won't meet the needs of my presentation.

      Thanks

Does anyone know how to make a driveway that runs up a sloping lot at an angle.  Seems like it should be simple, but I'm racking my brain here and have come up empty with multiple attempts.  You can see what I'm going for in the images below.  The driveway feature just paints a driveway on top of the existing terrain topography, and I can't figure out how to create a slab or a terrain feature that slopes continuously the way you would expect.

I'm using chief X9, plan file attached.

Anyone know how to quickly level a driveway widthwise? I have a curved driveway that slopes over the length of it, which is ok, I only want to level it by width. The modifier 'level region(cut/fill)' doesn't work because it levels the entire driveway over length and width. If I do small sections at a time it will look choppy.

Also a separate question. Can I select an area to modify that already exists? like if I click on the entire driveway and want to use that shape to modify instead of clicking a modifier first and having to create a poly line matching an existing shape I have already made?
      Thanks for any help.
