misterwiley
I'm looking into building a custom gate that operates as a normal door in Chief. Are there any tutorials out there that y'all know of?
RL-inc
Might try a search on this forum. Creating symbol from P-line solids is pretty straight forward.
RL-inc
Have you tried just placing a door in railing wall and editing as a normal door
misterwiley
Thank you! I hadn't realized you needed to create a symbol of your p-solid and then that could be turned into a door. I was trying to get my p-solid to work as a door with the "convert to" or the "add to library" tools without luck. Just missed a step. Cheers! Kbird1
Chief has a couple of Videos that show very basically the technique use with PolySolids , they make a couple of Rangehoods... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10151/creating-custom-objects-polyline-solid-hood-symbol.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10150/creating-custom-objects-molding-polyline-hood-symbol.html
dshall
The key is designing the door a little smaller than the opening (for a gate). One way to do this is to place a very small PSOLID just outside of your door and then turn it into a symbol. This creates the gap. Maybe another option w0uld be to change the bounding box of the door? Maybe? Eric? Michael?

Think about a wrought iron gate, no casing, there is a gap between gate and fence.

Just make the bounding box slightly taller and wider than the door. You are in essence telling Chief that "I want the object's geometry to display at its full original size when I set the dimensions to this...."
