Oversizes Eaves

Recommended Posts

I can not figure out how to get rid of this oversized eave. When I open it, it shows that it is the standard 18" (D).  It is clearly larger than the others.  This portion is one story.  When I made them gable ends that software added a wall to the back side of the house but not the front.  Thoughts?

1st suggestion is to post plan so we can really look at it and not guess.  Open default roof dbx and change gabel overhang to a reasonable number.

Here is the plan.  It is just the shell of the house I redid because I could not get the exterior to do what I wanted.  The walls all seem to be lined up.  I am using Suite 17.3.2.2OSX

Looks like it's auto-extending the gable roof because of your porch. If you shift the invisible wall back by 2-1/2", the issue is resolved.

To be honest, I'm not sure why it's doing this. Bug perhaps?

David James has it under control. This area (railing / wall corner) has always been a little jumpy.

Move the railing toward house 12", rebuild roof and your oversized overhang goes away. Fix it manually and don't move railing.

The Home Designer products have their own forum -- HomeTalk. You will find help there from those familiar with the many limitations of Suite.

Well, I tried what David advised and no luck.

Did you try rebuilding the roof after you moved the invisible wall?

Do you really want a double pitch roof over the porch (3:12 and 6:12)?

All the other roofs are 8:12.

Because that is part of the problem.
