  1. Nice on the 32's correction. My example still pointed out why he was getting 7/16" on the left slope and 1/2" on the right. But did not realize we could change Chief to go to 32's-thanks-bB
  2. Chief won't dimension to 32's. Your dimensions would need to be 5'-0 15/32" which Chief doesn't do. We've been asking for an EQ (Equal) dimension override for years.
  3. Maybe a good one for a suggestions request. Logic would dictate that we should be able to do that. Is there an easy way to turn this reply into a new Suggestion Request? -thanks, Brad
  4. Wall Specifications/ Wall Display options- We now have a few more wall display options that may allow you to show what you need on your foundation/ basement plan. See attached:WallDisplayOptions.MHT
  5. Looks like a really Clunky Mouse but I can see the Ergo Benefits as I use a Microsoft ergo Keyboard which really helps both of my wrists when using the keyboard (especially if you Use the Home Keys in lieu of Hunt and Peck. Does this Evoluent Mouse track nicely when dragging walls and CAD lines? Eg, after getting used to it, does it "Get out of the Way"? thanks, bB
  6. I use a Microsoft corded mouse at work and a Razor ergo shaped gaming mouse on home unit (I don't game, just draw). Somewhere there's a mouse related thread (probably in Discussions, not Suggestions) and some guys are big into these funky ergo mice. No way I could get used to a Track Ball. Try a general search in the Search Bar above. -bB
  7. Doesn't seem like a "Fanboy" topic/thread to me, just giving credit where credit is due. I'm a huge whiner because I don't believe it would be that difficult for Chief to fix the simple day to day things that plague me/ us. But, I think the programmers need to know that I (we?) appreciate their skills and efforts and (at least from my point of view) am glad that I've never had to learn or use AutoCad et all. My suggestion (in order to stay with the parameters of this Suggestion Forum) is that we continue to offer constructive suggestions.-BB
  8. Ditto or otherwise I'd be using another program. Have found no other that works more intuitively.
  9. I guess I never used (or payed attention to) that feature. Will have to reread and investigate. I still have X9 on my home workstation. I only discovered the Resizing Method today, so it's been driving me nutz since upgrading to 10 on my work computer. Thanks, BB
  10. Ok, Right Click and Right Drag. (but you can Left Click and Right Drag too.) For some reason (habit), I like Clicking and Dragging with the Left Mouse Button. When I Right Drag it feels like those times when I Boogered Up My Index Finger and Had to Use my Middle Finger until it Heeled.
  11. Doesn't work that way for me but, If I 1) Select the Layout Box and 2)Right Mouse Button Drag the Corner, it Behaves exactly as it Should and Used To in X9 when Corner Dragging with the Left Mouse Button. So, Once You Know "The Secret Handshake", everything's "Ok". This issue was driving me crazy until I read this thread! I just wish that Chief would stop Screwing Up One Intuitive Function in order to Implement Another. By the way, the ability to reshape the layout box the same as reshaping a CAD Box is fantastic (thanks Chief) and Intuitive as it should be. bB
  12. Might be a Brain-Fart thing and I usually call phone support for things like this. If you post the plan, I can take a quick crack at it. Did you try closing and re-opening Chief? bB
  13. Can you show a Screen Shot of your Window DBX where those settings occur?
  14. +1 a PITA that doesn't have to be.
  15. Fat Maxx 35' and a nerves of steel!!! (sorry)-bB
  16. Cudos to phone support, apparently I'm the DA (and I'm not an attorney) on this one. Would be nice if Chief could automatically give you a gate, but fine this time around. bB
  17. Did you ever figure out how to draw a GD chain link fence with this cryptic tool? I'm searching the web and about to call phone support an ***** a bit.-bB
  18. .....and sometimes (most all times), you just have to throw in the towel and say "Good Enough for Con Docs"! I'll keep hoping and for sure, waiting for something more intuitive and user friendly from our friends at Chief (hey I'm only 61, so there's a chance of it happening in my lifetime). Have a nice weekend. Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and look at some of Michael's "Secret Handshake" vids! -bB
  19. Perry, you were on the right track. Glenn, I was just getting ready to post the plan when I re-checked the DBX of the offending dimension string (see attached image for the error of my ways). I have no idea how my dimension line's extension distance got changed from my default distance (3") to 242 5/16". It only occurs on that one string and is now fixed by changing the value back to 3". Thanks for the help and I will take the extra time in the future to post the plan (sorry Glenn, I just got a little lazy).-BB
  20. Manual Dims. But why do they pick points in the wrong direction. Will check my extensions. This happens with Framing and CAD lines while in section views.thanks-BB
  21. Why does Chief (x9) dimension to "Stage Left" when dimensioning to my header framing while in Vector Section View? See attached image. I do have the Framing Radio buttons Locate: Ends and Centers turned on in the DBX. Did they fix this issue in x10 ? If not, I'll go to "Suggestions". thanks for any comments or feedback. Brad Boltz
  22. +1 For the Automatic Downspouts, has anyone dragged it over to Suggestions? Nicely crafted work-arounds by the way but you know how I am about work-arounds. May have to bite the bullet and learn a work-around just for the brain exercise.
  23. It's a heck of a Long Time Issue for a program that will occasionally, automatically build walls that I don't want. I've been scratching my head about this one for a long time. BB
  24. I did a general search and it brought me to this dead end discussion.
  25. Wouldn't this type of graphical dbx make roof framing and truss creation a bit easier? The attached image is from an unknown program but shows the use of the term HAP (height above plate) which for me is better than Chief's use of the term "Baseline Height" in the imageless Roof Framing and Roof Plane dbx's Softplan uses a graphic section diagram similar to the attached image in their roof specification dbx (and that was way back in 1996 when I had the opportunity to use the program for about 4 months). I would like visual feed back such as this in many of the dbx's. Would illuminate confusion in many instances and make the program more intuitive and user friendly.-cheers-BB
