I'll agree that things need to be fixed and continually improved. I'll disagree that CA disregards a fix when there are know workarounds. (shadow boards and ridge caps immediately come to mind.) In my opinion CA does a pretty good job implementing fixes and improvements. The workaround serves well as a step that gets someone to the point that they can produce what they need to at the moment and move ahead in their project. Nobody wants to wait until the next update cycle to finish a drawing. -

I find when a client arrives with a plan they've found and we benign fixing all the things that do not work it is radically changed. The client always wants "one little thing" changed, but the ripple effect is always large. -

I've noticed lag as well.

There is a layer called "Cross Section Lines" that contains the line work for objects that are cut. You can make it any line weight, color, etc... you like

Here's a tip to replicate a camera from one plan to the next (since we can't copy them) Draw a line from the camera to the marker at the end that matches the camera you'd like to copy in the first plan. (CAM 1) Copy the line and paste in place in the second plan. Create a new camera (CAM 2) in the second plan snapping to the ends of the line you copied. Open the camera specifications on the camera in the first plan (CAM 1) and record the settings on the "Camera" tab. Input these settings in the dialog box for the new camera (CAM 2). Note that in step 1 you cannot snap to the camera object. If both plans need 'exactly' the same camera point of view you can use steps 2 through 5 to make two exact cameras.

Create the profile you want with CAD and save it to your library as a molding profile. Use the profile as you shadow board.

I also have a layerset set up for moving the house on the site that Isolates all the site layer that need to move and hides all house layers I want to stay put.
