  1. I can help you. No charge. A couple of hours on zoom might get you going in the right direction. I use X16 Premiere and SketchUp Pro. If you are using Home Designer, I don't have experience with that. My open time is evenings on the west coast. mike@para-cad.com
  2. I like your thought of using text. Do you have to have the new space visible in 3D? You could create a couple of 2D details (CAD LINES) to show what's up and reference them on the plan for that area.
  3. I had major crashes and I have a loaded M1 max. I run 100% clamshell to 2 external monitors. It only occurred in 3D in chief....so I waited for the next chief update. I worked without 3D for a while. Sketchup, auto cad, all worked fine. Then I decided to see if my hardware was an issue. Apple ran some tests and told me that they needed to replace things so off to Memphis, TN it was shipped. They replaced the display and whatever else (the invoice was vague). It worked great, but just last week during a client zoom, when I was in 3D....chief went completely black. Now when I go to open chief, it crashes before it loads.......and just tonight, this happened. Not a happy camper am I.
  4. Those are a pain to frame, too. We would have the studs at 6" o.c. to help keep the sheetrock from looking segmented. I don't know about why the upper stucco is missing but I got the door to look a bit better. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/fren8cgk7pa71ibiug9cc/TURRET-1-para.plan?rlkey=gcvsiwapjpsnntgtguy3nafq3&dl=0
  5. I've had that exact problem, but it was with a print shop printing to paper at 95% (their default) instead of 100%. I'm on a Mac and have no issues. Can you share a file you have had this issue with - strip out whatever you don't need to share, and I will try to reproduce the error so it can be studied and solved.
  6. Copy - Paste Hold Position on other floor
  7. At the 12" walkline the tread should be 10" or greater. It's only 8 ¼". You're right to suspect these stairs.
  8. I had a Magic Trackpad that was B/T to my computer and it had something barely pressing on it. I was flummoxed for a bit until I cleared my desk and the problem went away. Now that trackpad has the batteries removed (just as a precaution)
  9. Looks like a DWG export from Chief. The dimensions are a bit loose.
  10. Chief has been able to adjust button sizes ever since I started using it. It takes effect after you restart the app. Now you're going to make me install X15 just to make sure I'm right. BRB
  11. Set your toolbar Button size to a larger number until you like what you get. This is in Preferences (macOS shown here)

  13. I searched for "Sloped Insulation" and there was nothing so here is my question. How do I make the batt insulation slope like in the attached picture? I have never found a way to get the box to break so I could slope it. Too bad a generic batt insulation hatch couldn't be a fill in a regular polyline...problem solved.
  14. I helped to create a regional test for that school and then one for the state design contest. It seems like a great tech school. Many motivated young people.
  15. Puget Systems or Falcon NW build great custom PCs (Puget Systems with lifetime phone technical support.) I had a beast built in 2016.....still runs great. It supports my wife's bookkeeping business effortlessly. (3) 4K monitors with excel, quickbooks, multiple tabbed browsers, and Spotify.......she is happy and productive.
  16. Chief is great. However, no one only has one tool in their shop. Right tool for the job. I use Chief mostly for plans for permit (no rendering needed) and Sketchup for real-world framing models. I wish you every success!!!
  17. Framers and foundation men, SALUTE YOU!!!
  18. Rene Rabbitt has an entire fireplace builder system. Very inexpensive and great for all your current and future fireplace designs. https://www.rabbittdesign.net/welcome
  19. My suggestion to the OP is, if you are paid up on your SSA, then call tech-support at chief and share your plan with them. They may be able to give you some pointers on how to accomplish what you’re trying to do.
  20. YESSS!! Thank you for pointing out the framer. I know center to center is the same as over to it, but over to it on the plans just looks right. (Former framer)
