Opened a layout this morning, working on plan file associated with layout, all is good. This afternoon CA crashes, go to reopen, layout says it cannot find plan file. Try to reassociate plan file with layout, no luck yet. I AM SO TIRED OF HAVING TO CONSTANTLY SPEND TIME FIGURING OUT WHAT THE F IS GOING ON!!!! I am tired of it. I AM TIRED OF IT!!! I AM TIRED OF IT!!!! I want to work and produce,, why is it so hard I am done. Valium in my mouth, fast acting, I am slowly calming down.....

I don't know what I am doing wrong, mine always take 40 minutes..... I must learn the P. Man method.

Turn off fascias. Turn on eave sub fascia. Change the GABLE SUB FASCIA TO 24", change EAVE SUB FASCIA TO 1", see what you get. I rarely use custom rafter tails. I am sure somebody who uses custom rafter tails more often has a much better solution.

Multiple Framing Member Types For Roof Framing?
dshall replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Set the default as lumber, Build framing, then retain roof framing for that roof. Change default to I joist, build framing for that roof. It is auto but you must change default. A hassle but doable. -
That is what I think. But if you think about it, the framing will be going the wrong way. I would still be inclined to go with the ceiling plane as you suggest, and I suppose we could then put in BLOCKING to represent the rafters, have not tried it, but it seems like it would work.

Fascia One Color Roof Framing Members Another
dshall replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Or you can give it a soffit, zero out the soffit and give the soffit a opening/no material definition. -
Fascia One Color Roof Framing Members Another
dshall replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
If you do not have a soffit, the rafters will match the fascia, makes sense, typically this is what you would want. If you do not want a soffit but you want the fascia and roof framing different materials, zero out the fascia sizes and then add a shadow board that can be used as the fascia. You can then have the two different materials. -
oob= out of the box settings. Open CA, open new plan, that plan is oob, (CA's default settings).

Another Pet Peeve, open dvx, auto highlight something

Thanks Michael......... -
Not sure why you can't have your sections already in layout. I have sections in the layout, I never send sections to layout, they are already there. The only thing I send to layout are the cabinet elevations......

BTW, who the heck is Ken? Where did that name come from, I thought it was KBird who solved this. -

I missed that, you are right Dennis, Ken nailed it, sink on outside, drag onto cab, AND THEN HIT THE REBUILD 3D. -

I am confused. Didn't we just figure out how to do what the OP wants. Is there a configuration that we can't do with a minimum amount of work? If I am not mistaken we can do just about any config........ here is one for you, 4 sinks in one cabinet. No special holes in countertops, (4-8' long cabinets superimposed on eac h other, each of the four cabinets with it's own sink. I think we can put this thread to bed. -

LOL, okay, it's nice to see that you have a sense of humor, but you didn't have to go to all that trouble. Nice render except for the ugly mug in the mirror. But, the plan was not attached, but I see the pic, I don't think we are reinventing the wheel, the purpose here was for the sinks to straddle the cabs, I think there is another thread going on that is addressing what the real issue is. What you have shown is a no brainer, we do it all the time. Aha, now I understand the reason for blocking, I did not realize that, I have never used cabinet schedules, but that is good to know, thanks. Attached is a pic of what I thought this entire exercise is about. -
So it is Mike and Larry that are having the problems, it is kind of neat that we can have direct access to the vids without going to the youtube website. Hey Larry, Mike, fix your computers! Thank you, thank you very much.
-
Randy, are you saying that you can see what I see, IOW, you can see the video in CT and you can play it straight from CT without going to the youtube site? If that is so, you see what I see but Larry and Mike cannot see it. Is this so?

Another Pet Peeve, open dvx, auto highlight something
dshall replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
lol, hey, if you were a golfer you would understand. -
Pet Peeve #1: We went thru BETA, and I could almost swear if I opened a dvx for door or a window, the width would auto highlight. I loved this. If I open a window or a door dvx, 95% of time I am changing the width, the auto highlight saves a step, please rectify this. Pet Peeve #2: I open up text block, the text should be auto highlighted. If I open a text block, it is probably because I am going to change the text, lets auto highlight the text so I can start typing, a no brainer. But I will say, I know for a fact that sometimes when I select a text block and open dvx, the text is auto highlighted. Why is it that sometimes it is auto highlighted and other times I have to highlight the text myself. Pet Peeve #3: If they say the greens are running at a 10 on the stamp meter, why are they really running like an 8. Golf is hard enough without the greens keeper lying to us about the speed of the greens. Played golf yesterday, I had a good day, JC wasn't there, but I think I have to play golf with him next Thursday, maybe I will come down with the flu, I can only hope.

inserting two lavatories in a custom triple face vanity
dshall replied to rolowe's topic in General Q & A
I think you were on the right track Dennis, but I don't like turning cabinets into symbols. I like to keep them "live". But no matter, it appears there are multiple solutions to the OP's question. -
inserting two lavatories in a custom triple face vanity
dshall replied to rolowe's topic in General Q & A
Suppose you want two sinks in one cabinet, i.e. one false panel? Build 72" long cabinet, put in sink, move sink to the left, copy cabinet in place, select second sink and move to the right. The problem is you now have a countertop penetrating one of the sinks, so select one of the cabinets, give it a custom countertop and then delete that countertop, so now you are left with two cabinets superimposed on each other, only one COUNTERTOP, and two sinks. Great question rolowe, thanks to KBird for the solution. -
Here is the link...... ww.youtube.com/watch?v=yT2-fDKUW2A ....... so copy this and put one more "w" in the front and you should get there, this is so weird. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT2-fDKUW2A

Here is a pic of the link I am trying to post, but every time I copy the link and paste into CT I get the video itself and I am the only person that can see it. Or go to youtube and type in COLORED FRAMING, you will find the new vid. I am telling you, my computers take on a life of there own.

This is what I see. And I can click on the video and it will play straight from CT.
