I absolutely agree with Joey, however I love remodels, do them all the time, there are many ways to do what Joey is essentiallly saying, I think I have a better method and done videos on it..... bottom line, do not combine new with existing.
-
I absolutely agree with Tommy. There, you have two nitwits saying the same thing, do what Tommy says until some smart guy comes along and says something different...... AND PROVES HIS METHOD IS BETTER.
-
Nice job Bill, but not clear on what you did, would you mind elaborating.
-
That is what I am talking about, I as well as I am sure many others do it this way.

I'm not sure what the big poop is. I thought if you imported a jpeg, and is was times to big (scale wise), open the dvx of the jpeg and reduce the size, I do that all the time including once today. Figure out the ratio that the jpeg is oversized or undersized, open dvx of jpeg, there is a size listed there of the jpeg, and change the size appropriately. Just pull out your texas instruments solar powered scientific function calculator, plug in the numbers and...... easy peasy. Do you guys remember those TI scientific solar powered calculators, I had mine for probably 20 years until I sat on it wrong and broke it. The darn thing was nearly indestructible until that fateful day. Hey wait, what about those Helitt Packard calculators? Are they still around. I remember my engineer used the HP while I use the udder cuz i weren't smart enuf to run the HP.

You know David, I forgot who suggested it, but a 3d molding polyline drawn in section along with an arched opening at each end of the barrel vaulted hallway was a cool solution for a barrel vaulted hallway. You just suggested a PSOLID I assume drawn in elevation will not address the coffered ceiling. For this particular application, I may build the entire thing out of ceiling planes. IOW, the ceiling planes would be used to build the arch over the tub and then the use ceiling planes over the ears to create the coffer. JC might suggest making out of psolids turned into solids and manipulated with boolean ....... I forgot how to refer to the boolean things.
-
Let me give you some advice, learn how to post a plan and be clearer on the info you need.
-
Several ways, PSOLIDS or RAILINGS turned into symbols, maybe others have more methods.

P., you are getting old, Richard has been the true curmudgeon since day one. Hey P., are you busy? I assume you are. You probably have not been slow for 20 years, you got your clients and they keep you busy. I got to say, this is the newest "wave". Things are going gang busters down here. If this "wave" goes on for another 5 years plus, I will be set up to enjoy life.

We could, I was wondering how others were handling the situation. I think I explained how I was dealing with it, how are you dealing with the issue?
-
Bill, would you mind repeating this?
-
Finally the true curmudgeon reclaims his title. Richard, what took you so long? I was letting this ride but all along I knew that Richard Morrison was the true "curmudgeon".

This is not good. Typically when I call support, the guys over there are great, and I appreciate that. If you were talking to customer service/sales, which I did not too long ago, and you were not happy with the who ever you spoke with as I was not, this is something I would suggest CA look into. If there is a pattern here, I think CA would like to know about this so they can rectify the situation. This is a lesson I try to keep reminding myself of. It takes a lot less effort to retain clients/customers than to look for new ones. I went to the RBI members reception, they had bad news, they were reducing our discounts, they could of had a lot of unhappy guests, but they faced it face on, listened to the concerns, acknowledged the concerns, did not change their business strategy, and because of this, I would bet they did not lose any members. A little hand holding goes a long way. I always like to hear about these because it reminds me of what I should be doing. Sales, it's a tough business, but the good sales people do quite well. Hey Ozgur, all these questions should and can be answered by CA, I would suggest you call back and speak with somebody else. And let us know how helpful that person was. Overall, the folks at CA are pretty good.

Thanks Doug, from now on I will not put any text in my plans, it will save me loads of time and my clients a lot of money. Thanks for staying on top of this.

If you are on X6, try the custom backsplash tool, a pretty neat tool, I deal with my backslashes with moldings, but this might be a better option.

My edit handles stays the same size as I zoom in and zoom out.

Thanks Jim, it really is frustrating having to switch over to the PC to print a flipping PDF. Called sales hoping they would sympathize with my dilemma, and their suggestion was to buy a second license. Very hard to justify that expense. Maybe CA can come up with a dummied down version for the express use for some of us MAC users to do a quick print to pdf on the PC without having to deactivate and activate and then deactivate to reactivate, do a couple of pirouettes, a back flip and then recite the alphabet backwards just to get a silly pdf. Just this morning, a time crunch, editing a plan on mac, needing to then print on pc, wait up to 5 minutes for the drop boxes to sync so I can then open file on pc to print so I can then go back to back all the time having to do the deactivate, activate, deactivate, reactive dance. I was dealing with BETA a couple of months ago, I got so fed up with going through this dance, I asked for a separate license so both computers were readily accessible.
-
Just to be clear, I am assuming there is nothing you are telling me that will alleviate the issue I am having.
-
It is surprising. I do not think it is CA's fault. I think it is Apple's responsibility or maybe some super smart guy who can write a program that will create pdf's for the mac that are not too large.
-
And now 5 guesses, even a Chief muckity muck needs the plan, but I bet he is wrong, I am going to stick with my theory that it is a double wall issue.
-
So, I am now on a mac. A pdf file on a mac is about 80 megs, same file on pc about 4 megs, file 20 time larger, hard to email. So I have to quit CA on MAC and deactivate license, open PC and activate CA license on PC and then print a PDF. What the EF are you guys doing? Do you guys print a PDF on a MAC? And then what do you do? Isn't your PDF too large to email. How do you send this file to anybody? My first computer was a MAC SE30 back in 1989, 80 meg of hard drive space, which was big back then, I could not even save my current mac pdf's on that machine. I wish someone would fix this.

Again I am wrong, yes, Ron is probably the grumpiest of the grumpy...... but think about it..... he has had about 83 years to practice, not as much as JC, but pretty darn close.

This is a great thread, one question, four guesses from some of the biggest nitwits to grace this site (including me), and we do not have a answer. I will put up 10 zlotyies (approx. $3.30), that the question will not be answered before the run the Indianapolis 500 this weekend. In fact it probably will not be anwered before the July 4rth weekend. Anybody want to take that bet? Of course if the plan is posted, all bets are off, heck, if the plan is posted JC can probably come up with the answer...... love ya JC, still thinking about golf next Thursday.... things are getting busy..... having problems squeezing my wife into my life right now.

You are not suppose to know anything since you are new, but if you had looked at the very first topic in the section where you posted the question, there is a thread that gives some advice on how to get good answers. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/23-how-to-get-good-answers-when-you-ask-questions/ BTW, the only person grumpier than Bryce is me. Everybody else is very nice to the newbies.
