I think Joey prints in COLOR, I do not think you print in COLOR, but you have PREFERENCE defaults set so the if not printing in color, greyscale shows as greyscale. Maybe I am missing something.
-
I totally agree, a PLINE based area..... we have been talking about this for a couple of years now.
-
BTW, Perry ain't no Glenn Woodward (but then who is), but if you listen closely to what he says, there is usually a nugget in there.
-
I disagree with this, at least I think I do. That is the way I did it at one time. But now I do not print in color...... so how do we get the grey scale...... Perry taught me this...... and Joey, maybe you can tell me why Perry's method is not better..... go to PREFERENCES<APPEARANCE<DISPLAY<COLOR OFF IS: ........ and check GRAYSCALE, you will get a BLACK AND WHITE PRINT and the grey scale is truly greyscale. So what is wrong with Joey's method, the colors are truly in color and so when you send it to your printer, some of the COLORS (which you want to print in black), may be a bit washed out. Two methods, I used Joey's method until Perry taught me his method. I think I like Perry's method better because my colored lines in layout turn out black and yet I still get greyscale for my greyscale lines. Any comments? I am always open to different methods.

I agree, the material wraps but the drywall does not, not a problem for 3d views, but not absolutely correct. I agree, I think, that the top of sill level will top of window frame..... but it is not that way. I think what you are saying is the top of interior sill should be higher by the thickness of the sill and extend into opening up to the window frame. Take a look at the outside sill. It is not raised up the thickness of the sill yet it looks pretty good in 3d. Bottom line, something is amiss.
-
I think the drywall is intelligent enough wrap into opening. The problem is the SILL is not intelligent enough to go into the opening until it butts into window frame.

Sorry guys, my bad. Here it is. SILL STOPS 2.plan.zip
-
Here is the plan and a pic of the condition. I want a drywall finish around the interior opening, but I want the window sill to extend to the window frame. The green sill stops at face of wall. Is it possible to extend the sill into the opening auto or is that a PSOLID requirement. SILL STOPS.plan.zip

I have a project in which I need a symbol of some 3d text. See attached JPEG. I need the words "EL PORTILLO" in 3d and CURVED/ARCHED to fit within this wrought iron arch way. I am not sure of how to go about doing this. Is there anybody out there that would not mind doing this for me, thanks. Would you use SKETCHUP?

Can you copy a terrain from one plan to another?
-
Curious, can I raise the entire model up 27" via transform replicate so that now the floor Dbx shows 27" higher?
-
Well that is interesting. I thought I had tried copying a lan without default heights and it blew up. I must try it tomorrow.
-
It should work if all the ceilings and floors are default heights.

I concur...... I am not sure if it is feaster to do, but I do know it is faster. To turn off all lights but the LIGHT SOURCES, go to 3D<LIGHTING<ADJUST LIGHTS

Yes, it removes the "VIRTUAL SLAB", but you can always build your own slab on ZERO LEVEL and all is well.

How Can I Draw Stairs With A Cable Railing To Match My Deck?

Yes, post your plan and you will have an answer in about 38 seconds. -
How To Create A Site Plan (Attached Example)
dshall replied to alwaysdesigning's topic in General Q & A
Yes, use 3d trees to get the shadows for the trees. I wonder how important the shadows are since the example plan shows no shadows for the buildings. I think CA can show the shadows for the buildings as well as the trees. -
How To Create A Site Plan (Attached Example)

I think CA can do this, that looks like some basic stuff. What program was used to create the site plan that you are showing? -
Jim, I am getting so lazy, I do not want to go to all that much trouble. If CA does not make it easier for me to crop these pdf's, I think I am going to start sending them to headquarters and let them do the cropping for me.
-
I get these pdf's with very large blank borders without an image in them taking up a lot of space in layout. I was hoping to eliminate all the blank white area in each pdf in one fell swoop.
-
There are different ways to resize a PDF 1. Move a side... the image size stays the same, and you can essentially crop this image 2. Move a corner.... the image proportions will change accordingly 3. Move a corner IN CONCENTRIC MODE, and the image will resize proportionaly ..... but what I want to do is grab a corner and keep the image the same size, but the box itself will resize. This is similar to number 1., but I want to move all 4 corners at one time. Is this possible? For you guys getting multiple pdf's for your title-24, you probably know why I want to know.

I was messing around with tilted solids yesterday, today my computer was behaving badly, several aborted starts, long time opening, had to reboot computer several times today. Lost half my manuf, libraries, restarted and did get them back. I will see what tomorrow brings.

Actually, I think I did adjust the wall defaults. I believe there was a wall where he had several layers defined as MAIN LAYER. But I do not think this would effect the adjustmest that I made but I could be wrong. To restate, to be on the safe side, the OP needs to eliminate some of the MAIN WALL LAYERS in wall def box, and then use the EDIT WALL LAYER INTERSECTION tool.
-
To fix that you either use the EDIT WALL LAYER INTERSECTIONS tool, or you make sure you have the same number of layers of materials of two walls that intesect. The best method would be the EDIT WALL LAYER INTERSECTIONS tool, this is what this tool is for.

Now this is interesting..... I tried to do a TRANSFORM/REPLICATE after doing Jim's suggestion, I got something really odd.......
