  1. Unfortunately there is 20 year old technology that works better but it is not as easy to use so you have a choice. Choices are good right ? Possibly chief will look at updating that once they get a few other things done.
  2. Check for a bad wall connection or a wall that is set to "No Room Definition" If that does not work maybe post your plan file with a few screen shots of the issue and one of the experts will see if they can help. Sorry about your issue but welcome to ChiefTalk.
  3. Yes you can do that, but it still will not be a roof rafter but at least you will be able to control it as one. Much better than it being Cad Default. You could convert it to a symbol which gives you a few more options for inclusion in a schedule etc.
  4. Just something to think about when programming new features. That non default setting did not come from my template file.
  5. Are you talking about the Material Name? In the X13 templates, I believe the material is just Fir Framing. The OC references have all been removed. No I was referring to the grading stamp on the framing material used in construction. It seems that Fir is used in the West and Spruce is used in the East and Pine is used in the South but only Fir is used in Coeur d'Alene for some reason. Every piece of lumber that I have seen is stamped S.P.F. which I believe covers the majority or situations in North America.
  6. Thanks Scott. Still curious what the stamp looks like on the material you frame with though ?
  7. From what I gather the material no longer has anything to do with spacing.
  8. Got it. Jenna is soo smooth I missed that little nugget. I guess that needs to be set to default or all the other settings are useless ? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/5514/what-s-new-in-x13-design.html?playlist=173
  9. Just for fun and to hold up the trusses. Thank You. I will send it in tomorrow. Can't believe they would miss that even with in house testing.
  10. So it is all totally automatic as long as you want 16" O.C. spacing ? What am I missing ? -Framing Wall Defaults -Build Framing Wall Settings -Wall Framing Material All set to 24" but I get 16"
  11. X13 has totally different rendering requirements. Let us know what you find out as others are having similar issues.
  12. I would check with tech support tomorrow so they can clarify their documentation but I think you will need a 9 series Nvidia card or better.
  13. That little bowtie seems to automatically adjust and lock while updating library files. I think my problem was that I was in ALDO but I was pretty sure I saw it running there the last time I loaded an hour ago. Interesting.
  14. Possibly I just missed it. Might it be time to update your own Signature?
  15. What happened to the download progress bar for the library updates? It was kinda helpful to know that was in progress.
  16. I had an issue with my Shader Model version because I was using an older version of Window 10. Check your Video Card Status in Preferences. Look at this article if it is less than 6 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03146/identifying-the-shader-model-of-your-graphics-card-in-windows.html
  17. You must have done something different than what I did. I think you must have imported or migrated your custom tool bar and got the rest with it.
  18. Yes you can create your own library of moldings and call them anything you want. I did notice however that in your posted example the 1x4 and 1x2 are actually reversed so maybe it is not worth getting too detailed about it with regard to sizes as those are entered separately anyway. Once you have something in your library, right click on it and you can enter any custom "Search Attributes..." that you like. Not really sure that lumping trim and molding together would be all the helpful though. CA-001 represents anything square or rectangular in profile. I think Chis answered your question while I was offline ?
  19. That might make a good suggestion but if you apply the frieze through the DBX it actually filters and guides you through your library search by only allowing you access to the files that apply to the situation. Good, Bad.... Who Knows. Build Roof is for automatic roof builds. Edit All Roof Planes... is for manual adjustments. Good, Bad.... I could possibly be labeled better ? You have now created a structural problem and you are worried about style ?? Ridge caps have the same issue or is it really an issue ?
  20. It does seem to be something that can happen. Typical Ms stuff I suppose. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-update-deleted-all-files-from-my-desktop/c52a735c-6324-423b-b5c4-1a9b2052fa49
  21. You could have actually saved some time by using the room structure setting of "Use Soffit Surface for Ceiling" and then you only need to apply the material one place. Try that next time maybe.
  22. You also need to turn on the soffits in the structure panel but you have been doing this a while now Mike, so you also know you will need to rotate the material 90 degrees to keep your contractor happy.
