How to rid gutter/fascia on part of roof plane? Image Attached:)
Chopsaw replied to zowie123's topic in General Q & A
I think I have corrected some of those issues in the past by bringing the main roof plain up to the overbuild and connecting it then manually redraw it into the original position. Not sure that you should ever get gutter in a valley though, but maybe I don't understand the question. -
Also check your cross sections when you frame and you may find that you will also want to move your "OSB" out of the main layer so the floor frames correctly.
-
Just move your Plasterboard wall layers so they are not part of the Main Layer. Heighlight and move in the DBX (Dialogue Box) as shown below and you should be good.
-
Thank You Johnny, I made the adjustment in the Terrain Specification DBX accessed from the drop down menu beside select objects when in Terrain Configuration Mode.
-
Could one of you post your results please and maybe we can all work together to figure this out. And are we all using X8?
-
Not sure if there is a way to keep it on but you could put it on your toolbar so it is 1 click rather than 3.
-
I get essentially the same as Dermot and then you might consider using Elevation Regions to clean things up the rest of the way after turning off "Flatten Pad". I find they are easy to use and quite powerful to override other features.
-
Sorry for the unnecessary exercise guys. All appears to be well in X8. I will send this into Brian for tomorrow.

Many thanks for your replies, please see video part 1 Part 2

My apologies in advance if this has be discussed before but I just searched and got 85 results that did not seem to address this topic. I am trying to precisely locate and center a small symbol and because it's dimensions are in 1/16" ths this means to be centered 1/32" nds must be used. I have no problem moving the object laterally by 1/32 or even 1/64 in fact if necessary move by 1/256" and dimension to 1/128" but the elevation seems to be controlled by the DBX and the number styles in the DBX are all set to 1/16". I can not use transform and replicate and I can not use the center tool, may snap grid has been over ridden. I would like to just do this once and forget about it but cant find any options. Is there a way to set the accuracy of the number style? Any other options?

If you are making changes to a Wall Type Definition it will effect all the walls using that wall type. If you only want to change one wall make a copy of the wall type before editing.
-
Just make a copy of your plan file before opening in X9 and you can always go back.
-
And is that in X9 ? Because it looks great.

No need to update if you are not having any issues with your workflow. Interesting that your DBX is not showing driver date or version for your Mac, mine has those two extra lines. Unfortunately I have already pushed aspects of my system to their limits.
-
Michaelgia, Just give Ryan a screen shot of the DBX. He will want to see the driver date and version as well as the rest of it.
-
It looks better inverted than what you have Michaelgia. Sorry to say. Hoping that Ryan can help you out.
-
Michaelgia, All seems well here. Be sure to get in touch with tech support before they close unless someone brilliant comes up with a quick answer. I have seen goofy stuff like that before with imported materials but it usually is a raytrace problem. I have not yet updated my library for the X9 map improvements if that helps isolate the issue.

For those that can not attend or did not sign up on time I will try to record and post the video here for the morning after. Also I am sure there will be lots of great stuff that we will all want to review. Good Morning all. Here is the raw footage after an 8.5 hour upload. There is a spot about 6 minutes in where I completely lost audio but it was only for about a minute, there are other parts that are rather laggy but if you can put up with that, there is some really great information contained here. Many thanks to Joe and Scott for putting this together and Michael for his macro's that were demonstrated.
-
I made them from callouts in the dropdown menu with the text tools. If you like you can reproduce all your favorites with cad and block them to put in your library and if you use them all the time you could even put them on a toolbar.
-
Just a little more manual in Chief and not quite so many options yet but they have been requested before. Just have to make do with a combination of callouts and cad for now.
-
Mike, Do you have a typical screen shot of how you like to do them in AutoCad ?
-
Rob, As others have already said you have a rogue item that is messing up your camera view and function. Fortunately you provided screen shots and it is appearing in the first one. Identify the item and delete it or recover and move back to the building site.

The terrain will show in all 3D views and elevations and if you need to see it in floor plan on a different floor you can use your "Reference Floor Display" The learning curve is steep but just keep studying and asking questions and it will come.

Questions on PC CPUs/GPUs for number crunching i series? Xeon? AMD?
Chopsaw replied to DaViper's topic in General Q & A
Absolutely when you multiply that 2.5 by about 10,000 every day it is really huge. And you also do not want to run into a situation where you can't finish a project like me. -

This is what Task manager looks like when Chief is in a maxed out situation and Not Responding before my only option is to do an "End Task" before it crashes my whole system. I think I have a theory on what is happening and you only find out the truth when you push to the point of failure. But if there is anyone out there that has and explanation an knows this stuff well please let us all know. Oh and my GPU registers a 17 percent load at this point.
