  1. My understanding is that the Annotation Set changes the Layer Set if it is assigned to one. It seems as you are trying to change the Annotation Set using the Layers Set and I am not sure that has ever worked for me. Hope I am understanding correctly.
  2. Something seems a little backwards to me. What happens when you switch the Annotation Set and why do I not see the Annotation Set on your toolbar?
  3. Johnny, I am getting a significant line extension reduction in print preview and then they are almost eliminated in the PDF. The ones that still remain are much shorter and finer. This does not seem to be related to the Nvidia Driver problem. Also I am still running v. 19.3.1.7
  4. Have you updated your video card driver in that same time period ? I have been having issues with some of the the latest Nvidia drivers and PDF display. Maybe you could post a pdf of that page and also what print driver you used.
  5. I will try to post my recording of the workshop here next week when I have a few extra gigs of internet to use up. Thanks to Scott for hosting and all those great questions that were answered.
  6. I would be glad to post them for you Richard but there is nothing new there. I think Derek explained it all but just neglected to say it is the smallest update ever.
  7. Notes have not yet been updated for 19.3.1.8 I think this is all that is available :
  8. Yes it is all rather confusing even working in section views and not being able to select something that is cut and having to adjust a camera to see a selectable face. Maybe we will see improvement in X10.
  9. Yes, As Yusuf was starting to explain faces are filled and cuts are not and it would be great if this worked better and showed fill for the cuts that are not cross sections.
  10. Yup always new stuff to discover with Chief. Funny how it works that way and mistakes lead to new discoveries.
  11. Very Nice Yusuf, I had not though of that concept. Happy 60 since I missed your 50 th. Also handy to have your Auto Details on a dedicated Cad Layer so they can be more easily edited or deleted.
  12. Yes, take a look in the same Layout Page Information DBX for that page that is giving you a problem and make sure that it is using the Page 0 "Page Template" under Page Template Options. Also now that I think of it maybe worthwhile to put in a suggestion if you like so that if for people like you who don't use the Layout Label that the camera callouts should pick up the default layout page number without having to fill in the Label and then of course for the rest of us a manual entry would override.
  13. If you do not have a numbering system for layout just put # in the Label: box of every page and it will automatically number your pages sequentially and put that number into the camera call out as well as change them automatically if you move pages around. But you must put something in the Label: box even if you do it manually.
  14. It should display in plan view exactly what you have filled out for the Label of your Layout Page Information. Not the actual page number unless you have that filled out as the Label.
  15. Post the ones you are having issues with. I always enjoy a challenge when I have time and it seems many others have the same addiction. A glitch in a view usually indicates a glitch in the plan file so if I can I try and track them down.
  16. Take a look through this: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00467/troubleshooting-missing-toolbars.html
  17. Plot lines and usually with color fill. My system which is really not that old gets bogged down with the plan and layout files open with live views.
  18. Usually able to get the glitches down to a minimum so that anything left over is not to difficult to optionally edit in layout at the end.
  19. This is an advanced drawing production technique pioneered by Scott Hall that can still, after all the years he has been perfecting the system, create unseen issues within the software. This will give you a quick overview: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1959/process-for-creating-new-plans-using-the-save-as-method-sam-by-d-scott-hall.html?playlist=142
  20. That is one option but it has limitations. It seems that you would be better served by drawing your Plot plan not in a Cad Detail but within the plan file which also allows you to generate a terrain and include terrain features within your Plot plan. Lots to learn.... Keep watching videos in all your spare time. Start with the CA series then move on to others that are available that give a different perspective and more advanced techniques.
  21. Sorry Jonathan, I think for now I am unable to match your exact configuration but enjoyed the challenge and actually tried and learned something brand new. I am presently working on some deck and stair suggestions for Dermot and will include your example if you don't mind. I will also post my railing panel and test plan for you to take a look at and anyone else that may have the skills to take it to the completion stage. I think I can achieve everything you need with standard tools except for the part that laps over the newel posts. If the newel spacing was always the same it might be possible but can't see a way to make it happen as is. Sorry to get your expectations up. JJJ Railing Picket.calibz JJJ Railing Test.plan
  22. Are the spindles 1 1/2 or 1 3/8 and is the spacing 4" ?
  23. Would you like me to draw a panel for you or are you familiar with that process ? And if the spindles are 42 then how high is the finished rail ?
  24. Unfortunately the beam would need to be edited manually and default chief beams and footings almost never work for me without editing. I have a custom panel railing in my library that is very similar to what you have drawn that might work for you. Do you face mount the newel posts when you do that or is it exactly as you have illustrated with a 2x4 vertical top rail and 48" pickets ?
