Showcase Door +/- 4 Door refrigerators
Joe_Carrick replied to Cheryl_C_Crane's topic in Symbols and Content
There's not much that can't be made from a cabinet. This is something I noted several years ago. -
Anyone sharing that catalog with you would be violating the license agreement with Chief Architect. Best bet would be to purchase SSA. Then you would have legal access.

How to update details saved in user catalog
Joe_Carrick replied to capitaldesigns's topic in General Q & A
Edward, I create the details at a scale of 1"=1'-0" using Level 1 of the Detail Plan(s). Then I create a "CAD Detail from View" in a new "CAD Detail Window". Each Detail is then in it's own named CAD Detail Window and has no 3D data. It's just pure 2D CAD. That means that when I send those Details to Layout there's very little degradation in performance. Also, all of my Details share the same Scale, Layer Set & Annoset. I don't know for sure which of these commonalities are most responsible for maintaining higher performance levels but it works for me. -
Basically because in Elevation the arrow is selecting the "Exterior Room", not the "Window". The only way I know of to get that in an Elevation View is by putting the macro in the Window Label and making the macro "Owner Object". It's more complicated though because then the macro would also be displayed in the Plan View. That means you have to have the macro display a different result in Plan View than in Elevation View and the macro has to have a way of knowing what the Current View is. I can do it but it's a bit complicated.

I use several "Warehouse Plans" based on the "CAD Block Template". Each "Warehouse Plan" is named for the type of Details. Each Detail is then Saved in a named "CAD Detail Window". It's a simple matter of sending the details to Layout. Anytime a detail is modified it will be updated in every layout in which it has been used. -
Jay, If your schedule text is set to 1/8" (6" for a 1/4" scale CAD Detail Window) it will be 1/8" on your Layout. The image size and consequently the row height is what gets changed by adjusting the image column's width.
-
Resize (change the width) of the image column. Essentially, the text is a fixed size based on the Text Style. What you are seeing is that the image is too large and the rows are increased accordingly. By reducing the width of the image column you get the rows to be smaller and the text appears to be larger on the screen. When the Schedule is sent to layout at scale, the text will be the size you expect.
-
There are 2 possibilities: Change the Text Style being used (this should be "Schedules") to edit the actual text size. Set the images to: "Scale Images" and adjust the width of that column. My preference is #2.

When you select Print it should be on the Printer Dialog. You can set it there.

What program are you using to create the PDF? I use Nuance PDF Printer and get about 30 MB for 31 sheets. Also check the DPI settings. Anything over 600 DPI is overkill and even 300 DPI should be adequate.

Dialog Box that's displayed when you "Open an Object for Edit".

Best to open the pony wall dbx and individually set the materials (upper and lower each side as needed.

Wall Niches only recess into walls. You need to create a Solid or PSolid with the hole built in in order to emulate what you want.

milgard styleline stretchable slider
Joe_Carrick replied to Renerabbitt's topic in Symbols and Content
Yes, the symbol dbx just needs to specify "System Supplies Rectangular Casing" in the Options Tab. But then you will need to make sure the casings, etc match what Milgard has for that product. That's why I suggested just saving a "Window" to the Library after providing all the proper settings. -

"Window Symbols" are somewhat problematical in Chief. It's really best to use Chief's Parametric Window (set everything as you want it) and then save that to the Library. That way, all the casings, frame, sash, materials, etc are saved as a "Window" rather than as a "Window Symbol". I know you are trying to get the "screen" but using a "Symbol" just creates too many problems. I would just add the screen as an "Exterior Furnishing" symbol that hangs on the wall and place that separately. You might be able to define it as an exterior window treatment but I haven't tried that. -

I actually find it easier to use the right mouse button when creating walls (continuous mode) and then go back and select individual walls to assign the dimensions to other walls.

It works with Windows on a PC - not sure about OS X on a Mac.
