  1. The question is why do you want to put the old plan into your new template. There are several options depending on what you want to accomplish. One option is to export all the Defaults, Layersets, Annosets, Line Styles, Text Styles, etc from the Template and then Import them into the old plan. That way, you won't lose any Sections, Elevations, CAD Details, etc.
  2. Use multiple stretch planes only if you want the symbol to stretch just at those specific locations. Example: a 6 panel door - use 2 stretch planes on the x axis & 3 stretch planes on the z axis (centered on the panel area) That will cause the rails and stiles to maintain their widths. It has always worked this way. The difference is that now you can see the stretch planes and manipulate them with the mouse.
  3. Hi George, I haven't either. This particular macro uses a global variable that CA modified for X11. I had to do a little work to make it work correctly with the new data. BTW, Thanks for your support - I really do appreciated it.
  4. Anyone who has my _Chief Version macro and is using Chief X11 please contact my and I will send a revised version. In X11 CA changed the content of the S" Global Variable which I use to retrieve the Version. I have a new version that works for X11 and should work for all future releases.
  5. Michael, When would you want the Plan Notes Schedule in a CAD Detail? If just for that particular detail then it's the same thing (view specific) isn't it? My concern after working with them quite a bit is that separating the Plan Note Schedule from the View where the Callouts are located gets very messy. It's difficult to force them to be relative to one another. If you put the schedule in a separate CAD Detail then it's difficult to identify which schedule should be sent to what page/view in the Layout. Most Schedules (Cabinet, Door, window, Appliances, Fixtures, etc.) don't have that problem because they are project wide (or at least floor wide). Note Schedules are a different animal.
  6. My preference is to have them in the Saved Plan Views, Sections, Elevations, etc. Specifically the same view that the callouts are located in. It just seems a lot easier to control that way.
  7. Here's the way to deal with this: In the Annoset edit the NOTES Tab. Set the Layer for that particular Note Default. Maybe make some additional modifications to the Layer Set Then it should be automatic after that. Just change the Annoset and it all falls into place.
  8. Yes, Preferences are a totally different thing. They really don't have anything to do with "Templates" which just open File Content.
  9. OK, here's what I get when I open the New Saved Plan Template. All of the Plan Views, etc are there - only one Plan View was initially opened.but that was the state when I saved the Template. Note that expanded the Project Browser & opened all those views.
  10. The above procedure is an excellent way to start many new projects that are very similar. You not only get the same defaults but you also get the same set of Layout Pages, Save Plan Views, etc.
  11. OK Larry, I'm not understanding. Here's what I did: Open an Existing Layout & Plan Saved the Layout as a Template (New Template Name) Saved the Plan as a Template (New Template Name) Closed both Files Opened a new Layout from Template (New Template Name) Opened a new Plan from Template (New Template Name) At this point I have a new unnamed Layout and unnamed Plan open that match the contents of the ones I saved. Now if you are just looking to duplicate the appearance of Chief Appearance from some prior session that's different.
  12. You can save a Layout or Plan as a Template and retain all of that. Templates > Save as Template Basically any Layout can be saved as a Layout Template and any Plan can be saved as a Plan Template
  13. Yes, I can see that. I avoid importing from Word, Excel, etc. I typically only import images (bmp, jpg, pdf) and my pdf application (Nuance PDF Advanced) can convert pdf's to those other formats any time I need to do so.
  14. Basically what CJ and I are saying is that this is a CAD Program and that's the standard which should be used for both Text and Rich Text. The option to use a non-CAD text sizing convention shouldn't be in a CAD Program. Actually it's a Drafting Standard - not a CAD Style.
  15. Ok, then here's an example: The question becomes "What good is the non-CAD Style size in Rich Text My suggestion would be to just eliminate that option entirely.
  16. My question really is: Why should it be any different than regular text? Why the differences in the size?
  17. I'm using Chief Blueprint as well as Arial.
  18. Why is CAD Style so much larger ? When I use the CAD Style (Check Box in the Rich Text dbx) I get text that's approximately 50% larger than the size would indicate. This is not true with regular text which doesn't have this option. I've read the help file description for Rich Text but it doesn't make sense. If I want Rich Text that's about 9" tall and I use CAD Style then I really need to set the size as 6". IMO this is a total screw-up. I prefer to set the size and have it be accurate and CAD Style seems to be something totally wrong.
  19. I always put my drawing title, scale, etc in the Plans, Sections, Elevations and CAD Details. In the past when I sent a view to Layout I would always need to "Suppress" the Layout Box Label. This was an annoying extra step for each Layout Box. So I did a little searching to see if I could find a Default that would allow them to be automatically suppressed. NO SUCH LUCK. So I then looked at the Object Layers for the Layout Boxes and found that the Label has a separate Layer. That Layer can be turned off for display in the Template. What I haven't figured out is where the Label Layer is assigned. I know I must have done so at some time in the past but I can't find it now.
  20. OK, I figured out that somehow my Main Layer of the Interior Wall Type had been changed to a non framing material. I have no Idea how that happened but once I changed it back to Studs, 16" OC everything is fine.
  21. No, it's off but my interior walls are stopping at the exterior wall framing.
  22. I can't seem to find where to turn off the breaks between framed walls. IOW, where one wall type intersects a different wall type. I never had this problem before X11.
  23. I use a macro that copies the entire Project Folder and renames everything to a new Project Name, including the Layout and the Plan File.
  24. Adjust the transparency or add a little bit of color to the Glass Material
