  1. That depends entirely on what the settings were when they were added to the Library. In the case of most Chief supplied symbols I would assume the answer would be yes. For things you add to the User Library it depends on what you saved them as.
  2. Why didn't you use walls and a floor and roof? That way it would be the normal way.
  3. I just moved the exterior wall about 12" up - then dragged it back down and snapped to the interior wall face.
  4. Mark, The walls are not in perfect alignment. Fix that and the WMR will show.
  5. Doug, FWIW, I believe the problem Perry has shown is a "Wall" problem and I have forwarded my thoughts on how it could best be solved to Jason and Dermot. It's not really an issue that should be considered as a "Stair" issue.
  6. Dynamic defaults are those things you see in the dbx that are marked "Default" or (D). If you change the Plan Defaults, any such item will use those values.
  7. It would be nice to have the entire Trimble Kohler catalog (arranged in Folders of course) There would be a lot of work involved to set the materials, bounding boxes, stretch planes, origins, etc. But it's not like Adrean's team has anything else to do
  8. Another option would be to simply "Add the custom shaped Window" to the Library. In the Library preview window it would look like the wall is included but it really isn't.
  9. Not Save as Symbol..... Convert to Symbol
  10. I think he just expected that existing cabine I haven't tried it but it should.
  11. Just think Joey, Someday (In a Galaxy Far, Far Away) we might have fully automatic annotation of Elevations, Sections, Wall Details, etc. The computer will be plugged into a jack at the back of our head and will read our minds. Then the 3D printer will build our design using the latest materials. I would just like the automatic annotation by X9 but I'm not going to hold my breath.
  12. Golf, Surfing, Bicycling......... Optimal Setting = As much as possible
  13. Mick, Look at Dermot's post #6 and my post #10. It's working exactly as it's supposed to. The cabinet in his plan that doesn't have the base molding was placed before he changed the defaults.
  14. Alan, ACAD is not Chief Architect. However, SoftPlan does have the non-modal Object Specification Dialog and it's something that IMO Chief should implement. It isn't as simple as it is for ACAD simply because 3D Objects in Chief have a lot more variables. Still, with Tab Pages, Drop-Down Lists, etc. it is still possible.
  15. Basil, The existing cabinets will not be changed by changing the defaults. Moldings are not one of the things that are in the Object Specification as (D). Only new cabinets placed in the plan will have the default moldings.
  16. I am trying to stay neutral on this subject. I guess I could agree that a drop-down selection of the Layer would work, but this dialog is the ALDO (Active Layer Display Options) and by that definition it has to do with that subject. Editing Objects per se is assigned to the Object Specification dialog. That's where Layer, Linestyle, Color, etc. are modified. Do we need that dialog to be NON-MODAL so it can be always displayed? Of course and it's not a new request - maybe CA will provide that at some future time. I hope so.
  17. I do think there should be some more intelligence to the selection and placement of moldings on Cabinets. With the Room Moldings, when a "Crown Molding" is selected, Chief assumes it should be at the ceiling and when a "Base Molding" is selected Chief assumes it should be at the floor. It just makes sense to me that the same should be true for Cabinets. IOW, if I add a "Base Molding" to a Cabinet or to the Cabinet Defaults, Chief should recognize that it should be at the bottom, not at the top. If I add a "Edge Molding" then it should be on the Counter Top.
  18. It works for me. Did you set the offset to 0.00 from Bottom in the Defaults? Otherwise the molding would probably be on the edge of the Counter Top.
  19. It's a matter of knowing what you are doing. Each Layout Box has a Layer Set. If both are using the same Layer Set then that's what you get. You can select one of the Layout boxes and assign a different Layer Set. The other way to handle this is to "Copy the Layer Set" when sending to Layout. That will insure the Layout Box has a unique Layer Set of its own.
  20. Windows in walls are essentially "children" of the wall. If the wall is not displayed then the window is not displayed either. The only way you can "isolate" the window is by using the "Delete Surface tool" to temporarily hide the wall surfaces. What is your reason for "isolating the window"? Maybe there's another solution.
  21. If you have the Windows "Snipping Tool" you can use that instead of exporting from Chief.
  22. OK, I see that but I only show those line lengths for the Property Lines - all the others I have turned off.
  23. No, just send with a different Layer Set.
  24. Richard, I don't see any advantage to a CAD Detail for the Plot Plan at all. Anything that it provides can be done with an Annoset/Layerset combination. I still have to put all the Terrain Features, Dimensions, etc in the Plan View anyway.
