Does anyone have one of these? I really don't want to go thru the process of creating one if there's already one available.
-
Jonathon, $3.00 gets you my "FloatClass.rb" which allows you to simply convert any value to ft-in-fractions by simply adding .ftin(8) to the value. IOW, if width = 30.5 owner.width.ftin(8) -> 2'-6 1/2"
-
sorry Alan, My mistake - it should be: referenced ? obj = referenced : obj = owner obj.surface_area.round
-
Yes, it's possible. Subscribers to my "Macro a Month Club" can do this easily by using my custom ftin(denominator) method.
-
Alan, If you use a context of referenced it will only work for the text object with arrow. If you use a context of owner it will only work for labels. Try this - it should work for both labels and referenced: referenced ? obj = referenced : obj = owner owner.surface_area.round make the macro context = none Essentially, the first line allows the macro to be in the label or in a text object with arrow.

Some Defaults are active - but only those labeled (D) in the object dbx. In the case of Schedules there are none
-
Uncheck "Use Callout for Label" in the dbx of the Schedule. That will also work if you have that unchecked in the Defaults before you create the Schedule.

Can room finish schedule show wall sq ft?
Joe_Carrick replied to BrownTiger's topic in General Q & A
Not with the current attributes: Rooms have the following attributes that could be helpful: 1. area 2. volume 3. ceiling_elevation 4. floor_elevation Calculations could be done from that but only if the room was square. If that was true the perimeter would be 4 x sqrt of area. The key missing attribute is "perimeter" ceiling_elevation - floor_elevation = ceiling_height ceiling_height * perimeter = wall_area . -
Have you tried using a "Solid Fill" with transparency at 25% or more?
-
Select the Layout Box > open the dbx > select Label > Specify Label > Insert > Object Specific. You should see the macro there.
-
The simplest way would be to create a molding profile and assign it as a crown molding in the room. You will need to set the ceiling height to the maximum height - the cCrown molding will provide the lowered area. You can assign additional crown moldings with offsets if needed.
-
You should post this in the HD Forum - or simply call Chief Architect Sales.
-
Or, you can use %box_scale% in the Layout Box Label. That will always show the scale of the Layout Box.

Chopsaw, You can also add Sub Categories to the Components Dialog and then have them available as additional columns in the Schedule. This is a slightly complex process but it does provide for some very nice customization. As an example, I have "HEAD", "JAMB" & "SILL" Detail Columns in my Door &t Window Schedules. I edit the "Description" for those in the Components dbx and the Schedule(s) show those values.

Here's a Library of 24" Ceiling Tiles (tegular edge) that I use. I have them set in the Library to place 12" below the room ceiling - can be changed in the object dbx. Once I have one placed where I want it I just use the multi-copy tool to populate the room. The tiles can be adjusted in size as needed. Note, since these are symbols, they will show up in the materials list as well. Suspended Ceiling Tiles.calibz

Rich Text doesn't block the Alt_Key combinations - but you have to use the numeric keypad.
-
There are some superscript characters in the Chief Macros. You can also use the Alt_Key combinations.

X8 Running really slow in 2D Plan view and Camera views

When I installed Windows 10 on my ASUS G74SX it turned off my NVidea GPU and activated the on-board Intel Graphics. That created a whole bunch of problems in Chief. -
Cross Section/Elevation Marker linked to Page Layout
Joe_Carrick replied to EmmaCox's topic in General Q & A
There are 2 possible layers Cameras, Inactive Cameras, Labels They could be "Locked" but one or the other is probably displayed. IAE, you want to "Open" the Camera itself in the Plan View and change it to a "Callout" in order to have it display the Page, etc. ps: whenever you select an object Chief, there's a little square icon with an "O" in it on the edit toolbar. You can see directly there what layers are associated with that object and turn them on or off. -
There's a new bonus materials library that you can download for this kind of material "Metal Materials"

You can't change the Layer - but you can turn the Layer off. For the Text below the Line check "automatic" and then make sure that in the Layout Page Information you set the Label as A-# The # character will pick up the page number.

Go into the NVidea Control Panel and check the "PhysX" setting. -

Emma, You can't delete a camera callout if the view is open. You can turn off the Layer so you don't see it. Deleting the callout deletes the view - which you probably don't wan to do It would be much easier to help if you post the plan and layout so we can see what you have or don't have. -

I assume you have Anti-Virus Software on your System. There should be a way to set "Exceptions" within that Software so that it will ignore Chief Architect X8 - or any other program that you fully trust. You might also need to set it to ignore your Chief X8 Plan & Layout Folders/Files.
