You are correct, and your solution was a good one, however point to point and transform/replicate work no matter what your bumping/pushing settings are and if bumping and pushing is toggled off entirely, bounding box becomes irrelevant.

What rendering mode are you using?

I personally haven't switched to X8 yet for producing plans (only been messing around to get a feel for it) so I haven't run into the issue you speak of. I do however know that at least a couple other users have submit tickets for the problem you've mentioned. Hopefully they'll have it fixed here with the next release.

Also, do you have anything in your trash folder? And what do you see if you go into you Chief Architect Premier X6 Data folder and open the folder labeled Database Libraries (while you're in that folder DO NOT click on anything inside)?

That sounds very odd. What happens if you click on Library>Update Library Catalogs?

Nice catch Eric. Not sure if you realize why your solution works or not, but... Problem is that the wall on the lower left was drawn at a slight off angle. Open that wall and simply change the angle to 180 degrees and you're good to go. No need to delete it or drag the other wall over.

Second...to actually change the bounding box dimensions, Open Symbol (as opposed to Open Object), navigate to the Sizing tab and change the bounding box dimensions there.

First...don't let go of the control key till after releasing you mouse button.

Yeah, definitely post over on the other forum, but for whatever its worth, that roof seems buggy to me. I actually couldn't figure out how to fix it using auto build. Auto roofs are building that roof all wrong for some reason. Only way I could make it work was to do some of the roof manually.

The line you're seeing is a "Ceiling Break Line". Its on the Ceiling Break Lines Layer.

Forget nationwide, even job to job and person to person can vary astronomically. A proficient designer working for a super easy client might be able to model a 10,000 square foot box of a house inside a day. Same proficient designer could pretty easily take a month or 2 modelling a 10,000 square foot castle for a very difficult client. On the flipside of that, a less experienced and less than proficient designer could take a couple weeks or more modelling the 10,000 square foot box of as house and end up ruining a perfectly good client.

I agree with Scott as well, go straight to X8. Learning an old version of the program could really prove to be pretty counterproductive should you choose to upgrade (the program has changed drastically along the way), and due to "advances" in computer and software technology, older software versions are slowly becoming obsolete and unusable on newer systems.

At the risk of stating the obvious... If absolute perfection isn't necessary, have you considered just finding similar furniture and modifying the size and material settings instead of drawing everything from scratch?

Just one man's opinion, but I think they've done the right thing. They've set it up to work more like wall and room definitions where multiple layers can be assigned. I think it makes for better organization and stability under the structure tab where they have it now.

OR...Open Symbol>Symbol Name The Description field in the Components dbx gets it's information from the Symbol Name field in the Symbol Specification dbx which in turn is tied to the library name (the latter 2 are one and the same) -If you change the Description field, it has no affect on the symbol name or the name of the library item. -If you change the Symbol name after the symbol has been placed in the plan, it will automatically change the Description field but unless you add the re-named symbol to the library, the symbol in your library will remain unchanged. -If the item is added to your user library, any changes made inside the library (either through the library browser itself or by changing the symbol name in the symbol dbx) will affect the other 2. So...it really depends on what your overall goal is. -If its a one time thing, change either the Description field or the Symbol Name, don't see why it would make much of a a difference. -If you want to use it again in the future and want the symbol name and description column to match, just change the Symbol Name and add it to your user library. -If you want to use it again in the future and want the symbol name and description column to remain different, modify the Description and add it to your user library.

I never use Chief's auto dimension tools. With the possible exception of Auto Exterior Dimensions, they simply require more work than it's worth in my opinion. I just use manual dimensions. Having said that, Chief definitely has issues with dimensions in elevation in general no matter what tools you use.. It's probably at or near the top of my personal list for things that need FIXING (as opposed to a feature request or an improvement). Sometimes the dimension tool will snap properly and sometimes it won't, and sometimes it will randomly snap to an object 10 ft. away.... It's not uncommon for me to resort to using point to point dimensions because I simply cannot get something to snap. Anyway, That's it for my rant...I would recommend just using manual dimension tools.

You could also possibly just create a room with a very short ceiling above your porch to avoid redoing it. That or a ceiling plane and a manually built attic wall, or a polyline solid and an attic wall, or...
