When this comes up, is sending the report adequate for Chief to get enough information? I have had this come up several times since I updated Chief a few days ago. It occurs when I am accessing my user library and click on a folder, not all of them, just a few. I can still access "<" and open the folder and still access my blocks in that folder. <--- Because I know someone will ask.

When I took my first drafting class in 8th grade (1977?) it was made very clear to dimension to the face of the framing member, because that is where the framer is going to draw his line. Putting a line down on the slab at the center of the wall hides your target line. This also requires framers to do unnecessary math. This has been reinforced by framers I have worked with for almost 40 years. The only thing worse than dimensioning to centerlines of walls is dimensioning to finishes and I have seen a lot of drawings from others who do this, mainly on commercial jobs. There is an exception to this such as on my ADA detail sheets where a minimum clear dimension must be maintained. In those cases, I will draw a dimension and add "CLEAR". I never did understand the concept of putting dimensions lines to the face of the tile, but I have seen it.

Just remove the drywall from the ceiling structure in the room DBX.

That dialogue always comes up when my son has a layout open on his computer. Any plan file that is attached to his current layout comes up as missing, but I am sure Chief is just not letting me open those.

I am assuming that File Locking is what does not allow my son and I to work on two different layouts at the same time productively, as our layouts reference different files for standard details. Kind of defeats the purpose of having 2 licenses. If we Disable the file locking of our standard referenced files, are we going to have disastrous results?

Bonus Catalog -> Exterior Attachments. I just had to do one for an existing building and built it as a small 4'x4' room with roof, windows and all the details and made a symbol of it.

I agree. I am not good at colors and material choices. I still use color schemes from Behr or Sherwin-Williams to "paint" for my renderings. This is going to be an awesome tool for me even with its little quirks. I now have the ability to quickly show a client what is possible in their dream kitchen. Chief just released a bonus catalog of styles and very awesome.

I circled back to this project today and had to move garage over, due to site issues. No, the roof planes are not 100% correct yet, but I was able to generate roof framing before the 2 updates this week. I have opened a few other plans and they do not have this issue. I have deleted a few various roof planes, still locks up. Wall, floor and ceiling framing appear fine. Any thoughts or ideas would be great! (of course Chief only acts up when there is a deadline) I have submitted it to support as well. I need to get this done.

Yes, I find that to be the case after hours of searching for a topic. Highly frustrating.

I can usually fit the whole garage, elevations, framing, schedules on a sheet or two so they DO have separate schedules than the house, but it works.

Yes, you can make a symbol of it and insert it into the house plan. That is how I do it and then do a rendering. That is the way I do detached garages. It makes things a whole bunch more simple.

Yep, I need to add the hatch under Deck Railing Specification under Newels/Balusters and then save to the library so I can reuse it.

I changed the hatch on the Wall Type", nothing and just can't get it to show. Am I missing something?

I have pasted very large tables before and never had an issue.

Interestingly, I opened my Layout that I was testing yesterday and on the first page were 7 pasted Excel worksheets. Not where I pasted them yesterday, but...

I needed to recreate a few new "Default Sets" (wish they had not renamed this), so I exported all my default sets and layer sets from my template, made my project current with those settings. I then created a few new default sets, exported and put back in my template. Everything came up "Active Defaults" until I saved and reopened. So there ya go...

When and where are you setting the origin? I go into the library open symbol, change it and it still inserts at the center.

Good to know. Another thing I did learn from your video is the return does not look good in Orthographic view and I need to keep that in mind when I create symbols. I created the border with a polyline molding and the "grid" with p-line solids and just ran them into the middle of the border. That really shows up in that view. I either need to stop them at the inside edge of the border or raise them 1/32" so those extra lines do not show. They look fine in other views. And yes, I was pleased the way they turned out. As soon as I get them tweaked, I will share on the symbols page... FYI, the supply diffuser was from 3D warehouse and tweaked, the supply was from scratch but took a minute thanks to watching all @Alaskan_Son videos on symbols!

Thank you!! The only issue with Michaels insertion point is my symbol is 23.75"X23.75" (got that from a cut sheet), so the origin needs to be at x=12, y=12 for it to place properly, I wonder if trying to put the "origin" outside the limits of the symbol is causing Chief to get upset.

If I only knew what I do now, when I first started using Chief......

I have "my" origin set just like yours, but the insert point is still centered. I DID change this after I created the symbol, is that the issue? Define normal, I am assuming you mean a "fixture"? If I try to create as a fixture, there is not an option referencing ceiling, that is why I ended up putting it on electrical? Not sure what you have done here??
