  3. It's in your blood Mr. Hall, you have a gift and you help others. Sometimes it takes a toll, lol. I appreciate your knowledge and sharing it and that includes many others on this forum.
  4. Use floating dormer tool on 2nd floor and they stay put.
  5. I have more light commercial plans, pm me if you want to look at more. I agree with above post that I'm not a power user but, I'm a Contractor that design/builds with 23 yrs with CA. I know the building industry and codes so I need documents to build it. I don't need to see all the bells an whistles on every project. I also know that if I design in CA it can be built. I have an advantage in bidding and getting these project because of the "intimate" knowledge of the project. Michael I'm sure your plans would helpful and interesting to look at, post a few.
  6. Follow Curt's advice, he is a guru and always helping without the "JAB".
  7. Pony wall config is problem, when I use your lower pony wall you can see same results as yours. When I use an in program pony wall it covers corner. Layers in your custom wall are not getting along.
  8. It can be done with a single shed roof @ 3/12 pitch. BUT a small saddle or some creative ridge cap work should cover. Picture shows issue. I'm done, my OCD has passed. Executive Circle repair 4.plan
  9. Hip/Ridge change would be labor intensive. Time for homeowner and builder to make some decisions. Good luck, =)
  10. Shed roof with same fascia and it won't work. Show him plan and get his input. Executive Circle shed roof.plan
  11. Entire house is a hip roof, maybe he not using correct roof term.
  12. Framer going to call you a $@%*&^%(^&$%$@ for this roof, lol. Turn on "roof plane addition" layer to see. Same fascia height and 3/12 pitch Executive Circle repair 2.plan
  13. Repaired and your framer will call several of those hip ridges "Bastard Roofs". lol Executive Circle roof repair.plan
  14. Make a large glass window and use poly solids as window dividers. I do this for commercial glass or store fronts on occasion.
  15. That's simple and very useful advice, TY Mr. Hall.
  16. Desk and chair, hide chair under desk as in real life for us Joe. TY desk n chair.plan
  17. Very impressive video and the gentleman operating the program is a true EXPERT. Many are on this site as well. I am a self taught computer user that has been a builder for 34 yrs and using Chief since ver 2. At my age I can't see myself learning another program that may or may not be a better product than Chief. I was truly happy with ver 10 because there was nothing in my range of work I couldn't design but computer upgrade required software upgrade. Ver 17 is AWESOME and like ver 10 this version will be all I need until technology requires me to upgrade. I'm not sure on the how the forum works on SU but this forum helps ALL OF US get better utilization from the program. Dam long winded post to get my answer to OP, no C.A. has no worries of me jumping ship. JMO
  18. @ Jay: These projects were panelized construction method and TY for the lead. You have some very nice homes on your website.
  19. @ Jay on Cape: You have hurricane areas too, which adds to horizontal loads. I have done 14 Extra Mart gas stations on east coast and 1/2 in your state. Last project Building official had issue with truss manufacturer and loads due to it being hurricane area. All worked out but it was a "NAIL BITER".
