  1. Ah, I think you are talking about an actual door and not a model of one, am I right.
  2. I presume you mean a lamp consisting of many small lamps, this is difficult for Chief to do as the large number of light sources tend to overwhelm Chiefs rendering capability. It is almost certainly better to give your LEDs a highly emmisive material, and then add a light source. This idea has been tackled before, some ideas can be found on the old Chief forum, try searching under "rope lighting"
  3. Here's a sign for a pedestrian crossing that for some inexplicable reason Chief forgot to put in the Library. Ped.Cross.zip
  4. I like it , did you make it from cabinets, you can put as many holes as you want in a custom counter top.
  5. I'm not sure why everyone is talking about recessed doors and thick walls. I see this as a perfectly normal construction where the "living area" opens onto a balcony, so just use normal walls. A balcony is just another room to Chief, except that it has a railing in place of the wall, ( when a room is designated as a balcony it does stuff like adding a tiled floor, and it will also take on different optical properties when rendering). If you use this construction your door can be made to open outwards just as long as the balcony is deep enough. You can use double doors or two singles, if you use two make sure you designate WINDOW SEPARATION as zero ( Edit/ Default settings/windows....minimum separation= zero) Added later I should have looked more closely at Glens thread, I more or less agree. I do not see the point of having those huge secret rooms though, why not just open them up. and use the space, just add balconies and make sure the room height is the same for all your rooms on the same floor.
  6. This picture shows what happens when an imported handle is imported without regard to the origins. The handle on the outside one is not in-line with the (Chief default) door knob. Too many polygons will eventually affect the program and make it more difficult to manipulate the model in 3d, it will make rendering difficult and perhaps impossible. One such handle will not do it, but if you have many of these they can add up, especially in a real model where they is plenty going on. You will notice a lot of Chief objects are a bit lumpy, primative even, this is because the Chief guys try and keep the polys low. I stand by my Sketchup slur, It is true there are many fine models to be found. But I do feel many contributors have little idea of how to control the size of a model, Default curve segments abound, Tiny radii wack up the face count, and many models just end up being too big, at least for Chief. If you want to have a better look at a model try turning on the hidden geometry. I'm looking forward to getting my Horse.
  7. Brinkbart, these doors appear to have the backs missing, the inside door handles are floating in the air.
  8. Care is needed when importing handles and suchlike to use as hardware, and you will usually need to offset the axis of a handle from the default position of the x and y axis. Some of the handles seem to be right poly horrors, I measured one at more than 16 000 faces. Rule of thumb: most of the stuff on Sketchup is unusable dross.
  9. That's ok, hope your business is doing well. For the Latvian market I have some "European' sockets Tas ir ok, ceru, ka jūsu bizness dara labi. Latvijas tirgū man ir daži "Eiropas" ligzdas Это нормально, надеюсь, что ваш бизнес идет хорошо. Для латвийского рынка у меня есть некоторые "европейские" розетки https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/175-outlets-220v/
  10. I cannot deny a feeling some disappointment at not receiving any kind of reply from MPL Group, lets hope they are more attentive to their customers. Given the strength of feeling amongst the heaving legions of "special relationship brethren" who use Chief I decided to make some UK sockets anyway. The file contains single and double switched outlets, they are well low poly and could be recoloured if needed. UK Electric sockets.zip
  11. It's nice but a bit poly, those chains don't help
  12. It is surprising that Chief does not make symbols for "other countries", Living in continental Europe as I do I made a set of "Shuko Type" sockets which are common in the Mainland, and much of Asia too, I have posted then on this site. The British type sockets should be fairly easy to model, being all square and slabby as they are. Sketchup is possibly the best program to model this in. There are some models already in the Sketchup warehouse, but I would be wary of these, most are unsuitable or have a silly high no. of polygons. If you haven't got Sketchup then it is probably possible to model British sockets in Chief, you just have to be a bit clever with polyline solids. If you reply with some kind of image and the precise dimensions and spacing of the pins, I should be able to make them for you. (do you need switches on the outlets, single or double sockets) Whatever you decide you only need have the fascia of the socket, the back of the socket cannot be seen, and there would be difficulties "pressing it into the walls", It would be normal to represent the holes by just colouring them black. I not sure what you mean by UK switches, unlike the sockets you would have a great deal of different models to choose from. However take a look at these two sites. The first British , the second Dutch. This might indicate the Brits tend to have a preference for the small rocker, whilst the Dutch prefer large panel. http://www.wickes.co.uk/Products/Electrical+Lighting/Electrical/White-Switches+Sockets/Switches/c/1000108 http://www.praxis.nl/gereedschap-installatiemateriaal/elektra/schakelmateriaal/schakelaars/f372/ Some final points, these objects are rather small and will often be hardly noticed in your renderings. When models are made it is important to keep the polygon count low, if you put 12 segment radii on your models they will rack up a huge face count, and like I said you'd be pushed to notice the difference because they are so small anyway.
  13. Breeze wood by years I refer to ten years or more active on the old site. at one time I'd amassed 2500 posts, although that's probably less now since posts tend to decay, you know like Plutonium, they must have a half-life.
  14. After years of succinct and relevant contributions to this forum I was surprised and dismayed to find myself with negative points, well all I can say is "na na na na na"
  15. (for newcomers) Lars "Anders" Niemi, has been a member a Chief Talk for a number of years, and has a fine reputation. unlike myself who has a terrible reputation (although undeserved)
  16. @Archijeff2000... that video is hilarious.!! Yes I liked it, Although perhaps the funniest part is that the man who is clearly a Flemish speaking Belgian, has a accent so strong he has to be provided with subtitels in his own language. This happens in the U.K. sometimes, for instance when a Glaswegian is rabbiting on, and believing he's speaking English, then subtitles would be needed for the more civilized Brits down south. I wonder if there is a similar problem in the States
  17. Perhaps you really don't need such a large garage as you think. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMWHYBi7kG8
  18. Thats one heck of a resource, Is there any way of downloading the textures easily, I keep getting redirected to fazebook, which everybody hates.
  19. Thanks David, actually courtesy of "Father Ted", go on, tube that
  20. Hey you, E U sockets, essential if you live in Europe, but not the UK or Ireland, or somewhere else where they have funny plugs. Euro outlets.zip
